Experimenting with metal textures.
At the moment have difficult time with metal textures.
Any feedback would be nice, much apretiated.

I also have free 3D ships.
Feel free to use them anyway you like.

I love it, but then I love all your work. In fact, I am using your free models in my space shooter. Of course just saying that is not helpful, so I will try to provide some criticism and point out some things I think are flaws in your work so that you may improve.

The metallic texture is good, it does look like metal, but it is really dark. Maybe if you enhanced the contrast on the edges it will stand out more, but I don't really know if that will look good or not. I can't really comment more on the texturing unless I see it up close, but I do have some other comments about the design that may be helpful.

Some of the geometry seems a bit extraneous. The protruding bits which I assume are supposed to be some sort of sensor arrays are almost unnoticable at range and are colored black so they will blend in with starfield anyway. Therefore the extra faces used in their construction seems to be wasted on elements that have minimal impact on the ship's profile.

Next the forward facing cavities which I assume to be particle intake ducts seem oddly placed; they also have similar emissive colors as the engines; maybe  they are also engines but forward facing, perhaps for de-acceleration? If that is the case, I would think them even more impractical, as weight constraints would almost always ensure that it would be more economical for a ship to just turn 180% with its maneuvering thrusters and apply thrust to main engines to de-accelerate.

The last point is that if this is a Warship, then I would think the intakes, engines and sensors should be more heavily armored, or at least arranged in a configuration that would expose those features to less enemy fire.
