Hi everyone!

I've been out of the loop for quite a while and I'm looking to brush up on my art skills. I'd like to help out any teams/individual out there that needs an art asset done, at the same time use it for my portfolio which makes it a WIN-WIN situation! :)

I am not looking to join a team at the moment, just to contribute 1 art asset. If the project is interesting and progressing well then maybe I would be more interested to continue working on it in the future. But as it is my available time right now is limited to only work on one piece at a time. Then when that is done and time permits, to look at the other projects and see what is on offer that would be fun to work on(another way to diversify my portfolio).

So what am I NOT looking for?

Startup projects/Empty projects (there's an extensive background story on the game but nothing else)
Deadlines (don't worry, i'll do my best to get it done in a timely manner)
Older tech (I'm looking for now-gen projects that use normal maps, I intend to do some zbrushing)
RTS (sorry guys, RTS assets don't really need that oomph in graphics)
NDAs

What I am looking for? If it makes my eyes bleed from its awesomeness, I'd be interested in it :)

So now you're asking who is this pompous primadonna artist that smells like last weeks leftover? or who is this awesome artist that fell from the heavens that will contribute that 1 art asset that will make my game a winner? :P I am just a humble 3d artist that has been in too many mods that left him burnt out and jaded that happens to like the whole game creation thingy so is looking to make some more art, do some mods and get burnt out and jaded all over again :P

Here's my (slightly outdated) portfolio to those who are interested: Solvalou.carbonmade.com

We could need a 2nd Character Modeler. Your's would be the ADF troops - an anti-riot type of outfit. Our current Character Modeler is doing the Resistance:

Moddb.com

I'm afraid there are no concept (except a few doodles and scribbles) for the ADF yet, but I'd be happy to get you the right stuff ;)

I like what you wrote, btw.

Word of advice, your not going to get anywhere with the attitude of work your looking for.

You must be prepared to work with deadlines, any technology your given and you must do as your told, you seem like a person that wont get very far if you behave in a team like you are showing yourself.

...he already has some offers.

And his attitude isn't bad at all. For some of us, modding isn't our job, it is just a hobby we do once work is over. He has every right to decide what he does and does not want to work on during his own free time (and even if someone did want to pay him, he still has the right to reject that job offer).
He's willing to use some of his spare time here and there (thus he can't promise a quick deadline) to do some quality sculpts (which old-tech and rts-type games wouldn't make us of) for a team that would actually benefit from having them. I assume the no-NDA thing is so that he can show the work off in his portfolio or post progress shots of it in other forums for critique. That's more than generous,

I agree with Cryrid. He's simply being honest about what time he can give and where his (unpaid, volunteered) skills and interests are. I don't need any models for anything I'm working on, but if I did need something I'd be happy to pitch it to solvalou. I'd have more confidence in him finishing what he promised than a lot of people I've known in the past.

This is good stuff. I've been considering doing some mod work, but I wasn't quite sure how to avoid the potential pitfalls. The OP has a backbone and you have to respect that.

Seems like he never came back, though. I'd be curious to know what became of this offer.

Sorry for the late reply, the new Zbrush has been keeping me busy.

@SinKing: Can I take a peek on those doodles and scribbles? The vehicle and prop concepts are top notch.

@blackdragonstory: Sorry mate, I'm not into the franchise that you're working on.

@jackkaoshin: I do all that stuff that you are saying... at work. This is a hobby for me and I really like doing mod work because I get to choose what to work on, something I can contribute and have fun with. I am just being honest on what I am bringing to the plate and what I want out of it.

@dustinbrown: Contribute some mod work, it's a great learning experience :)

Hahaha, thanks for pointing it out. I never pictured the zombie as something from the village people XD

I understand your reasons now, but i mean if you are refusing to work on startup projects, your missing out on extreme amounts of work progression, involvement and ideas to contribute.

I am currently working on 2 projects and your work is amazingly nice and fits a style that i would enjoy.

One is on an older tech engine, source, so you wont like it.

But the other is a UDK game, if you are interested i shall send you a pm, but be warned one is a starterproject.
