I'm looking to be part of a team for "unpaid" aka free work. I have a bit of a random skillset covering basic programing, 2d bit art, minor graphic design, minor 3d modeling, non interfaced application development, and interface design. I have written a 300 page sci fi novel and im an excellent writer. Not experienced with URE or Unity and I code in basic. I have roughly 1-5 free hours a day in the evening U.S based. I am an excellent communicator, am good at understanding and communicating abstract concepts and am professional. I quite enjoy team work and would love to be part of a indie venture with a group of like minded mature people.

You have many skills there, may I ask which is your strongest skill? :)

BTW have you created a game by yourself?

Oh yes, there are many people looking for partner here:

Programming has two "m"s, by the way.

Writing isn't a free skill: being able (and willing) to type a 300 page novel doesn't mean you have the skills to be a games writer. It's a difficult and poorly understood art form.

If you want people to take you on as a writer, you need to demonstrate skill, experience and knowledge. I wrote a few tips here a while ago to help get you started =)

darkbloodbane. So far just basic 2d games. A Zelda top town style dungeon crawler, a recreation of packman in 3d and a simple fps. My strongest skills are 2d art, interfaces and basic 3d modeling and writing. I have some 3d models of a higher quality not posted here,

chaos saucer what is your team working on?

Niteshade. I am not a tech advisor. I love to code but basic is in very low demand and as far as artwork goes I love it.

jjc. Anyone can use a spell checker or troll a forum but not everyone can bring a character to life.

*sigh* Everyone gets so defensive.

Look, sooner or later you'll take serious criticism: be it from your project leader or from your audience. Being "professional" means taking that criticism and deciding what to do with it. You don't have to agree with it, but you do have to choose to ignore it, challenge it, or learn from it. You can call your boss a troll and walk into the sunset thinking you're a tortured, misunderstood genius if you like - but your skills and career prospects won't pick up very quickly.

So, another tip for you: learn to distinguish between constructive criticism and trolling.

Maybe you are an excellent writer. The problem is in this thread you have done little to prove it and recruiters are likely to pass you by =/

TA stands for Technical Artist - not Tech Advisor - and is a cross-discipline between art and programming.
When I started out as a game dev student, my strengths was primarily Photoshop, Web development and GUI's. Then after getting a solid education in 3D and having worked as a 3D artist for about a year, I got a much stronger interest in programming and then the snowball started getting larger...

That is why I said that you look like a TA - because you remind me of myself 7 years ago.
Good luck in finding something. Hopefully you will find something both fun and challenging.
