This is 9mm silenced SMG. Polycount is 1004. Now skinned. This one is 9mm assault rifle with integrated grenade launcher. Polycount is 1098. Now skinned. I might try improve the skin, it looks a bit blurry... I think I'll skin these soon, if I don't have anything better to do. Yep, I did skin them, had nothing better to do... 16gauge shotgun, capable of firing 3 different rounds(regular, WP and HE). Polycount is 886. It's skinned now. - Edited By Jimi On Sat 21st, Feb 2004 @ 10:08:20am |

The smoothing groups look a little messed up, sort out that and they'll be pretty good. |

I made some chamfering to the vertices in some corners... and I think skin will hide that sorta stuff... or do they hide stuff like that? |
||
|
Feb 18 2004 Anchor | |
It won't hide it very well, you might wanna fix it. |
||

The skin doesnt hide it. The skin is just another layer over top of the origonal layer (The model). In other words your skin is over top of the bad smoothed groups so it will show very bad in a game |

Ok, thanks for the info. I think I know a way to fix them... |

looks cool, but when smoothed they look shite -- Nothing. |

Fixed the smoothing stuff. Chamfer made the smooth one go ugly... |

Can I see a picture of them with the smoothing fixed? |

ok then click on an element of your gun, go to the modify panel, then in face sub-object mode select only a bunch of faces which you want to be smoothed together with, and you dont want their smoothness to interfere with parts that you want not smooth, then scroll down to the polygon properties rollout, enter about 25-50 in the little space provided and hit auto-smooth, then select another bunch of faces and do the same thing --

The SMG was the fastest, I think I spend some 2 hours with it. The assault rifle took about 4-5 hours I think. The shotgun took about 3 hours and 30 minutes... |

Feb 19 2004 Anchor | |
Yeah, I just need to make them md2 and then I do some scripting for the models and edit the source code to get new fx for my guns... |
||
|
Feb 19 2004 Anchor | |
The smoothing groups are horrible still, read krayzie's post (I would help but i use milkshape) |
||
|
Feb 19 2004 Anchor | |
Md2s does not like unwelded vertices much. So I need to have only one smoothing group. |
