Post feature Report RSS New Location: "The Inland"

In this next info-feature, we give you some details on the brand-new area we've introduced into the Half-Life 2 universe called "The Inland".

Posted by on

The Inland is the vast, humid, forested area between City 17 and The Coast. It is filled with indigenous life, ranging from birds to insects, zombies, and even hives of antlions. Frequently patrolled by Overwatch infantry along with Hunter, Dropship, Gunship, and Hunter-Chopper support, The Inland is the center of attention between the Resistance and the Combine. Frequent raids, firefights, and full-scale battles ensue between the two factions in this vastly-diverse area, and the protagonist will have to fight his way through The Inland's wide range of warehouses, railroads, and factories to get back to City 17.

Stretching almost 100 miles between The Coast and City 17, The Inland is considered a high-priority combat zone by the Combine Overwatch. The Resistance used to construct refugee camps in The Inland for citizens who escaped City 17, but after the Combine increased the amount of military attention in the area, the Resistance has been fighting a losing battle for control. During the course of the campaign, the player will see how the actions of the protagonist change the outcome of that battle, and we hope to show the player how much the character they play as affects the entire Half-Life 2 universum.

In the next info-feature, we will talk about "The Tunnel", a massive underground complex beneath City 17 that was used as a World War II air raid shelter. The Tunnel also just so happens to be the only way anyone can get to The Inland from City 17.

I truly admire the teams ambition - and we all know that given the time and dedication, it can be done and done well. Looking forward to more on this topic.

=D Indeedly so. My partner and creative director Gregory "Jgoodroad" Goodroad is a really good mate of mine, and he keeps us going no matter what, as well as I keeping all the small things in check as well. I love his sense of humor too(he's a bit of a smartass haha)
