Everyone, take a look at their FB page. They have a large community as you can see and their community showed their support by voting for their favourite mod. It's a fair win and I'd like to congratulate you from the STA3 team Eryk. A happy new year to you too.

Well you did force a pop up, that could not be blocked by adblocker, when we visited the homepage, user control panel and the forums. The close button didn't even work. Is there a way I can complain. Know about >100 that knows the true intention of that pop up.

Hmm... This system needs an overhaul, for instance Republic at War didn't release anything but a news post this year.

I want to see new, cool mods from 2014 - not old relics! After all, it's titled Mod of the Year *2014*.

I have thought the same every year. As it is now, the award should be called "Most popular mod of the year 2014". Mods from previous years shouldn't be included in the votes.

On the other hand, those same mods do deserve some attention/recognition if people still appreciate them a lot, and if a mod releases a pre-1.0 version in a previous year then the completed version would never be able to become MOTY.

I suppose creating a fair system is very hard, if not impossible :( Perhaps having a new category, 'Previously released, most popular mods of 2014' would solve these problems ;)

My advice to everyone - if you want to delve into the Middle Earth ... really deep - there is no better way than through Edain mod.

So much sense of detail, ideas and relations to lore you will not find anywhere.

Well then you've missed the point of the mod entirely.
It's literally against all the "PJ crap". the guys just use the good models from the movies, and then expand on it.
And btw more than half the units in the mod are self-made by the devs, and has little to no link with "PJ crap".

Yes, you are right. But the screen doesnt show Azog, it shows an orc called ,,The Defiler". We used the movie-design for our own hero, because many fans wanted this stuff.

Quote from our news:
An Unexpected Journey presented a challenge to us by introducing Azog as an antagonist. We always strive to bridge the book and movie versions of story and unite the best of both worlds. Azog was an obvious pick for a new Misty Mountain hero, especially since that faction could really use more heroes with movie flair and charisma. And we knew that many players were looking forward to playing him in Edain. Others, however, raised valid concerns: Azog was a clear violation of the lore and had actually been long dead at the time of the Hobbit.

We found a simple compromise solution when we realized that our other two Orc heroes, the Great Goblin and the Moria Chieftain, both had no names and went only by their titles. We decided to use the design and abilities of the Gundabad Orc leader from the movies, but only use his title, 'The Defiler'. As a nameless leader of the Gundabad Warg Riders, he was a valid hero without
contradicting the lore outright.

Ealendril
Ealendril - - 1,011 comments

Quote from our news about the leader of the Misty Mountains ,,Bolg":
We purposely left only Bolg as a named hero and choose descriptive names for the other orcish heroes. Lorewise it seemed appropriate to use (given) descriptions and not rely on invented names. After all, descriptive names are quite casually used in the books, like the Witchking, Treebeard or Goldberry. It also backs up Bolg as the only leader great and feared enough to have a name of his own.

This also underlines Bolg's unique and special position in the Misty Mountains. As the warlord who led the Orcs to the Battle of Five Armies, his various passive abilities will boost every Orc and have significant effects for the complete faction.
Since there are only unconfirmed rumors about his depiction in the movies, we intentionally designed him mainly after his canonical character: A great leader and unifier of the Orcs.

You can read every thinking about this in our news and comment-section. Would be nice to see you on this page again! :)
