Post feature Report RSS How to disable Catalyst AI with the latest CCC

Well I finally upgraded my GPU drivers and decided to go ahead and update to the latest CCC so that I could figure out a proper workaround for those who have not yet figured out how to disable Catalyst AI. I have found that way. Of course setting the Catalyst AI setting in the the new CCC to high doesn't turn it off as they said it should. So here's how to properly do it:

Posted by on

I am using Win 7 64 bit and CCC version 11.6

1. In CCC set up your AA & AF settings, make sure that Catalyst AI is set to "High Quality", and make sure that the "Enable Surface Format Optimization" check box is unchecked before continuing.

2. Search for a file named 'Profiles.xml'. Mine was located here:
C:\Users\John Carrizales\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles.xml

3. Right click on the file once the search is done and select "Edit".

4. Find 'CatalystAI' and change Enable to Disable

5. Now run the MOM.exe file. Mine was located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\MOM.exe

6. Restart your PC and you should be set.

Now you can use the latest drivers and CCC and disable Catalyst AI.

Enjoy.

You forgot to mention to edit the registry key:

Verify which is ATI display key (correct entry has 'ProviderName' = 'ATI Technologies Inc.'-entry)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet \Control\Class\ {4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} 000\UMD

entry: Main3D = 0 (String)
Entry: CatalystAI = 30 00 00 00

After this run MOM.exe Restart as described above.

I don't understand. We get these weird 30 00 number combos, where do I put in "0(String)"?
Same with Catalyst AI = 30 00 00 00 ... I don't wonna screw up my drivers?

Never mind this. What you mentioned is unnecessary.

I did this and nothing was fixed. Please help, anyone? When I opened the "Profiles.xml" my Catalyst AI already said "Disabled" but I still get the glitches that I used to get with it "Enabled" on my older card.

I apologize.

For my driver, there are 2 areas where you have to change enabled to disabled, not 1, so it works now. Thanks a ton for this fix.

This didn't work for me. Has this been tested at all?

Turns out that you DO have to edit the registry, after doing that it finally disabled.
