This list is not exhaustive and will be edited as we see fit and depending on how other aspects of the mod progress.
Also just because a faction is not playable does NOT mean that you won't be able to experience it or it's units... (hint)

Yeah, i believe Alliance will be mix of Republic and Empire units.

I may be wrong but I'd guess some of them are mutually exclusive.
here's what i'm sort of seeing come together. i'm guessing you can take over a subfactions main planet and you can probably build the ships on that planet
That's what I'm guessing. I believe one of the developers also said there will be some sort of diplomacy or alliances where you can either aquire their units or they can fight with you.
Imagine invading a planet and you call for urgent reinforcements while losing a battle and the Rendili navy come to your aid or something/

What about the criss I thought you had made them a fleet or is that for a future mod
Tapani sectorate is one of the most interesting factions in Star wars, The freeworlds and the noble houses with their own fleets and armies (House defence forces) the tapani nobles even carried fake lightsabers! It is just too awesome, I hope you make a good work on them, I wish I could help you in a more practic way =(

Mandalorian as a playable faction will be awesome since their soldiers are extremely good but they are so few in numbers and equipment

A shame, that the Empire will not be a separate, playable, faction... The're (obviously) my favourites. Keeping peace, justice, and security in the galaxy. Certainly will miss them... But seeing how this mod will look like, I think I'll be able to get over it. :)
