The moment you have all been waiting for has finally arrived, after 15 days and more then 30 thousand votes the public at large has decided what indie games should be the top 100 of 2010! Did you say top 100? Yeah I did, having seen the vast majority of content that came in before and during the event and what people were voting for we made the decision to bump it to 100. Originally we were worried about participation only a few months after the site released but it seems you guys have proved us wrong. Good job!

Right now you can head on over to our top 100 page and vote on what you think should be in the top 10 list for both unreleased and released lists for the final Indie of the Year award. Again you can vote as many times as you want on any indie project in the top 100, however if you voted for them all that would defeat the point of the whole event now wouldn't it?

Here is but a small glimpse of the indies found in this years top 100 list, make sure you check them all our, who knows maybe you will find that mod you have always been searching for?

They've never shown how many votes a game or mod received. I'm not sure that'll change this year.

Great idea, that of having separate standings for released and upcoming games!
Congratulations and good luck to who made it to the top 100, and thanks to who helped my game get there as well :)

Anyone who doesn't vote for Natural Selection 2, Amnesia:The Dark Descent, and Zeno Clash are commies.

Also, Zeno Clash was 2009 man...but that's fine, one of my favorites.

Is there any particular reason why you would not show the final listings from all those placed in the top 100?

From more than 2,000 dev groups on here, I think its a fantastic achievement for many development groups to "shout" and advertise about and this sort of information (stats) would certainly help to give recognition to a team as well as help with Resumes and online portfolios.

We are after all indie developers and nearly all of us do this without reward or money, so I think its a small token gesture for a games ego than anything.

Please think about this, if not for this year, but the following.

Nice to see the games finally divided into 2 groups depending on their release status. There is something about rewarding those developers who manage to push it all the way through, compared to a titles which depend on a kind of hype that should keep players waiting for too long, way longer than the voting year is to hold on.

We would have won 2009 if it wasn't for the TBD titles, none of which got released even in 2010. Go figure. It's comforting to know the upcoming awards won't facilitate the old awarding methods.

On a side note, I do support the idea mentioned by a2ny about publishing the larger list of the competing titles once the voting is over. It provides a statistical base for comparison and evaluation: what kind of games were developed, what players prefered, what are the inovations that shook the world or flopped... A larger scope.
