Project Reality

Battlefield 2

Project_Reality wrote:Welcome to "Project Reality" , a free to download game modification for the Battlefield 2 (aka BF2) retail Windows game. The focus of this mod is to rework the original game engine developed by Digital Illusions of Sweden (Dice) within legal and feasible constraints to create a more realistic combat environment for the gaming community. This includes adjusting various game play elements including physics, visual effects and overall game play formats. Along with changes to how the game handles, the Project Reality team has been introducing British and Insurgent factions, plus a number of community assisted factions are currently in the works to introduce Canadian, Russian and IDF forces to the virtual battlefields. This Mod is not be for the masses, due to the fact that it has a much higher learning curve then your classic arcade game. This is the real deal.

Age of Chivalry

Half-Life 2

Age_of_Chivalry wrote:Age of Chivalry is a total conversion for Half-Life 2 currently being developed by Team Chivalry. We are a close group of friends who are dedicated to creating a fun story driven multiplayer experience set in a fantasy world in the medieval ages. We are creating a fast paced and fun first person melee combat system that will take the player to a new level of immersion. The players will be able to take part in sieges, town raids and open war in a story driven game. Our goal is to let the players write the history of the game as the teams battle it out over a sequence of user controlled map cycles depending on the victor. We want to take the overall experience to a new level of fun.

Pilots coordinate strikes with invading infantry in order to take down the behemoth capital ships from both the inside and out. Bomb important systems, escort a squad of marines to cause damage from the inside. Watch as railguns fire projectiles the size of buses at the enemy hull. Fight with many futuristic weapons including a flamethrower and remote controlled SMG.

Killing Floor

Unreal Tournament 2004

Mr._Kadish wrote:Killing Floor is a survival horror total conversion set in London, England. In a laboratory under the city, a series of human experiments in cloning and biological augmentation are being conducted by the employees of "Horizon". Horizon is a BioTech corporation formerly employed by the government to do the R&D on a top secret series of synthetic combat drugs which would enhance the effectiveness of soldiers in the field.Horizon's funding was cut, when their practices were deemed too immoral even for such a controversial project, but the research didn't stop. Funded by private money from the deep pockets of Horizon chairman and research scientist Kevin Clalemay, tests continued in a more...private location. That was until something went wrong. There were reports that the lab had been comprimised; that the subjects were behaving abnormally...then, silence. Several days later, twisted shapes began to emerge from the confines of the lab into the city above.

sidenote: is that the red alert 2 title track i hear behind the PR footage? old school! :P

to stacho: no you can't, the latest svencoop versions rely on HL1 engine updates introduced by Steam.

Yes, if you have non-steam HL and the old sven coop installer. You can play Sven without steam absolutely. However your going to defeat the purpose unless you plan to play at a LAN with your buddies.

NullSoldier Feb 26 2009, 4:35pm says:

Yay lack of good choices. Did they not pick the good multiplayer mods because they didn't want to pick the ones that already won the players choice? Also they purposely picked mods from different engines. Thank god the players know better mods than the mods do!

Just about every BF2 forum has people bashing PR. Majority of their reasons just show that they didn't understand the point of the mod/were too impatient to learn anything/just couldn't handle something so different from vanilla.

The mod is doing remarkably well when you consider the developers openly state that it is NOT for the masses.

@ snazz.. can you give a couple of links to "every BF2 forum has people bashing PR" ? I am not aware of this in the "epidemic" proportions you imply. It's not for everybody, but I don't think that the BF2 mod playing community is as ungrateful of our work as your comment implies.

Upon further browsing I realise I exaggerated when I said 'just about every', whilst an embarressing mistake for me it is good that PR isn't as widely bashed as I thought it was.

Sent you a PM of examples that gave me the impression.
