Welcome to Mod DB and the 6th Annual Mod of the Year Awards - the definative event that showcases the best mods and indie games in the world and recognizes the teams behind them. The MOTY is a tribute to the creativity, dedication & hard work independent developers put into creating unique gaming experiences that enable us to "play something different".
Over the coming months we will showcase to you the best mods and games in the industry. You vote for those you believe are worthy of recognition. At the top of this program sits the ultimate prize, the mod of the year award won previously by Natural Selection, Red Orchestra, PoE2 and Garry's Mod. Thanks to our sponsors, this year we have a few surprizes up our sleaves not to mention a slew of prizes for the participating teams.
From Dec 1st to Jan 1st, industry professionals, developers, gamers and the general public cast their votes to decide which mods define the cutting edge of interactive entertainment and which mod teams attain gaming celebrity.

The Top 100 Mods and Indie Games of 2007 will not be announced on the 20th of December as originally planned but will instead be unveiled on the 22nd of December. We have decided to push back the date to include 48hours more voting due to a few reasons:
As always good luck to all developers, modders we encourage you to make the most of the next few hours because you don't want to just miss out on making this years top 100!

I can't wait for the results guys.Though I want to say all mods that made it in the top 100 are excellent and good job(and luck :D) to the modders who make/made them.Oh and I think this will be the best moty so far but that should be obvious.ModDB seems to be getting a lot more professional with the awards now and props to them.Whats cool is those that win will probably get a lot of exposure making them more popular and more populated which is better for us :)
why does it take such long?
Well, for one, to give people alot of chances to vote. Not everyone visits ModDB daily, so we gotta ensure that its fair for everyone to get a chance to vote. And aside from that, its just a hell of alot of work for everyone involved.
It is times like this you need a time machine, so you can see what the final votes are. :D
Hmm thats pretty easy, just show a few mins of Infinity... and you are done :D. I'll be surprised if that didn't win Unreleased.
There's also the runner's ups and stuff. But yeah, Infinity is looking mighty fine. Overall, it was a very rich MOTY, so many good stuff released or being developed.
