Mod of the Year 2007

80,000 votes. 4,000 mods. Only 10 winners.

Mod DB and the 5th Annual Mod of the Year Awards is the definitive event that showcases the best mods in the world and recognizes the mod teams behind them. The “MOTY” is a tribute to the creativity, dedication & hard work independent developers put into creating unique gaming experiences that enable us to "Play Something Different".

Mod DB brings you the best mods in the industry. You decide which ones are worthy of recognition. At the top of this program sits the ultimate prize... the Mod of the Year Award! Thanks to our sponsors, this year we have greatly enhanced the program with video content, interactive features and top shelf prizes.

From Nov 15th to Jan 1st, industry professionals, developers, gamers and the general public cast their votes to decide which mods define the cutting edge of interactive entertainment & which mod teams attain gaming celebrity.

For those new to mods, a modification is a variation of an original game that can be freely downloaded. These variations can be minor or epic in scope. In brief:

  • Mods unlock and expand the incredible power of games
  • Mod making is an art form that empowers creative expression

The Editors Choice Mod of the Year Awards have now been posted. You can view who won, and the mindless babble of Mod DB staff right here!

It began 70 days ago with 4,000 mods eligible, and now 80 thousand votes and 5 million mod views later, it is time to announce the Players Choice Mod of the Year for 2006.

And there are a few surprises in store. When the time came for the Top 100 Mods to be announced, we literally had to sit and watch the list eb and flow, backwards and forwards, top mods slipping off the list, only to come back mere minutes later. The list was changing so dramatically that we couldn't even get a jump start on the writing until it came down to the wire!

From there, we've seen the Top 5 mods slowly shift between established classics, new faces in the community and hard-working projects beginning to pick up steam. So sit back, relax and soon we will tell you what triumphed in 2006.

i´m really interested about resident evil: twilight and its results....but i think the "bigger" mods like Black Mesa and the Hidden had made it.

Well, it was a different year for the awards. No player selected categories, oh well.

Let's hope that next year can be kicked off a little sooner, so the winners are announced at the start of January. Good luck everyone.

Good luck all, should be interesting, i wonder how many PC magazines and website interviews the top 5 mods get. They media get in a frenzy about the mod of the year awards, they enjoy doing a few reviews on the winning mods.
