Make your RPG with simple operation!

"RPG MAKER VX" is a software that enables you to create your original role playing game without any special knowledge. The process is very simple. First, create a map which becomes the stage of your adventure. Secondly, setup the hero, monsters, items, magic, etc,all the things you need to play the RPG. Finally you can complete your very own RPG by creating the events and placing them around the map.

The New RPG MAKER is easier!

In the previous RPG MAKER XP you had to use the script called RGSS but now you can use most of the functions with easier setups. You can save time by making frequent using events with one single command, and by making beautiful maps with little operation.

Numerous Refined sample Data!

For players who are unable to prepare character graphics and music by themselves, we have made various sample data. The samples are made to meet specification for the game and tuned to the most attractive high quality level, so that anyone could enjoy the game right away. Of course you can import and use your own original materials as in the previous RPG MAKER XP.

Created games are possible to distribute!

As before, there is a function in which you can save your created game and play it with the computers of other people. It's possible to burn it on to a disc and give it to your friends or distribute it over the internet for other gamers. It goes without saying that you can market your game as a shareware, too.

I'm busy working out the final bugs to the system but here's the rundown of all the features present in the demo. Since this is the first stage it's a bit easier than I'd wanted but still puzzling enough to stump.

1.) Button Mashing Events
2.) QTE Events (working but hidden on this demo release)
3.) The Spook Scanner / treasure hunting system
4.) The morality system
5.) Dynamic lighting and shadows
6.) In-game inventory usage (no need to open the menu)
7.) Item combination in the menu to make new items
8.) The sanity system (will be more robust in future releases)
9.) Hiding games, chasing monsters, a final boss.

Ehhhh maybe it will still suck but I will let you decide.

You are allowed to sell all games made with RPGMaker products as long as you buy the software ($60 includes software and license) and as long as you use your own, originally produced pictures, music, etc.

So, It's easier to make a free game.

Yes, I believe so. I have seen RPG Maker games being sold, but I'm not sure about what rights need to be sold before mass production.

It opens up a lot when you use scripts and you can search online for a bunch.

I've really enjoyed the software. It's perfect if you need to make a game by yourself.

2d art is easier to manage than 3d modeling and animating.

Not amazingly flexible.
There are a lot of things you can do, but you can be rather limited.

Fantastic engine for beginner game developers! For the more advanced, I'd steer away and find an engine a lot more complicated.
Code does not need to be learnt and the engine comes with pre-made resources. A game can be made solely out of pointing and clicking at the screen and a little imagination.
