The Refractor Engine, is a game engine designed by Stockholm-based studio Refraction Games, first developed for the computer game Codename Eagle, which was released in November 1999. Since then, Refraction Games was bought by Digital Illusions CE, and working alongside with the Refraction Games team, designed and developed the Refractor 2 Engine for the famous Battlefield game series for the computer.

Germany against France 
In the night of May 13-14, the French urged various forces south of Sedan to counterattack the German breakthrough, but it was already too late. Very early in the morning on May 15, the "Grossdeutschland" Infantry Regiment supported by tanks of the 10 Panzer Division assaulted the French city of Stonne, to consolidate Guderian's breakthrough at Sedan. They didn't expect to encounter the French 3rd Armored Division and 3rd Motorized Infantry Division arrived late on May 14, too late to counterattack.
The battle of Stonne has been called by the Germans the "Verdun of 1940" and was one of the first major tanks battle of World War Two. The town itself switched side 17 times in 3 days.
Gameplay
French are holding Stonne, but with few AT guns and support. German assault first the crossroad flag (french can't retake it) and Pain de Sucre to get reinforcements and reach the city with their panzers and armored vehicles quickly. Once the city is under German control, they stop loosing tickets, and the French are! French got armored reinforcements and must counterattack to stop the bleed. Map is huge, so don't waste your assets and vehicles.

This game is great, perfect to play even on low mem computers, i has the best mods ever, and i am suprised it is still dominating over BF2!

i got an Old computer (only one CORE XD ) and it works fine even with a 128mb grafic chip.

you 2 must be doing something wrong then, i can install bf2 on any cheap laptop and it will run fine. maybe you need to configure it properly, or you have other conflicts with the engine
i dont know if its the engine or the game, but battlefield 2 is extremely buggy and slow even on a high end pc and it makes the game awful. i bought bf2 a good while ago and i played it for a few days before getting completely fed up with it.
Uhmm.. you're doing it wrong. It ran fine even on my intel integrated POS laptop on medium settings. And being a competitive gamer I'm not a person that doesn't notice when a game runs bad.

Yeah BF 2 is really slow even with very fast modern PCs .
I don't have any problems with my bf2. and I have a high end pc and a slow one. this engine is great... I hope the next one is better... bf heroes
the next game is battlefield bad company 2 and battlefield 1942 remake. both on the frostbite engine,
