World Edit is similar to the DEdit environment creator in Jupiter with enhancements to support Jupiter EX's new rendering and visibility systems as well as Havok Physics. World Edit allows level designers to create dynamic 3D environments, worlds, levels, structures and lighting with one easy-to-use tool. The level designer also uses World Edit to populate the world with objects and interactive items.
Jupiter EX features the latest version of ModelEdit, which has been extended to include improved UI and changes to support Havok Physics. ModelEdit ensures models are optimized to interact correctly with environments and other objects. Artists can also use ModelEdit to define specific properties, assign texture IDs, attach objects to models and manipulate animation data.
FxEdit is used to create and modify visual effects. The tool enables the creation of in-game visual effects without requiring a recompile, thereby increasing the efficiency of the design and implementation of special effects. The latest version of FxEdit has been updated with an improved user interface as well as more robust and efficient effects.
Jupiter EX includes custom plug-ins for 3D Studio Max and Maya that allow developers to export world geometry as well as character models. The model exporters also include support for skinning, animation blending, level of detail, and Havok Physics.

Preamble:

Critical Condition is definetly a Heartproject - That's why it was never released.

Some Years ago i was working on a more simple Version of Critical Condition and some time later it got more and more ambitious. Then there was a cancel because of time and no idea what to do with it.

Coronavirus came and i got hooked again working on that old ass editor and now i created even better environments and the gameplay is now better too. It's at a quality stage where i can say (i want to continue...)

Still - I don't want to make the same mistake again so there will be NO Releasedate for now.
I only can say that i'm working on Critical Condition BUT only when i have some free time.


Story:

Your Name is Jacob Harvey, you are on your way to search for a hidden Factory in the deep of Red Forest.
Your Mission is to check out the area and understand whats going on. Don't expect a AAA Storywriting. The Story is telled through Environmental Storytelling rather than Characters or Voices. The Main Focus is the Atmosphere.

Where i could use help:


  • Loading a saved Checkpoint leads to script errors like a buggy swim animation, maybe anyone knows about this
  • Loading a saved Checkpoint makes Reverb Volumes not working anymore, maybe someone can help
  • VisAreas are darker when u directly spawn in one without going outside first, maybe someone knows
  • Assets (i could use someone who is familiar with creating melee weapons, a crowbar would be cool like here: Youtu.be)
  • Creating new AI's through Entity-AI doesnt work (they only appear in editor not ingame). I can only use the pre-made ones from crytek through Entity Archetypes. Maybe someone knows about this problem
  • I could use someone who is familiar with creating driveable vehicles like a jeep or something

Does anyone know how to extract animation files from AVP2? I think they are built right in to the model files but i cannot find a way to extract them. Idealy im looking for the Predator and Alien Drone animations.... If anyone knows how to do this or could point me toward someone who does or a website maybe, id be very grateful.

This engine is quite old and Im verry impressed that It actually runs FEAR and FEAR2 which are considered as half-next-gen games.

F.E.A.R 2 was somewhat better graphically than F.E.A.R but they just revamped the Jupiter Ex engine, so technically its still the same engine but an updated version. its also not publically available the newer one anyway as i spoke to one of the level designers Daniel Grafstrom.
