About System Recovery with 0 comments by PoshDan on Dec 19th, 2014

I've been silently working on features mentioned in previous dev diaries, and the game is slowly getting to a point where I'd feel comfortable with getting wide exposure. I've not lifted a finger in terms of advertising the game so far, because I wanted to make sure most things are in place and working fine before it is subjected to a wide audience, and therefore potential reviews.

With the holiday season on our doorstep, I expect to speed up my workflow substantially, as my usual distractions have been put to rest. (mostly referring to university here)
Hopefully we'll be seeing a new, better promotional video in a matter of weeks, and of course a new release.

I've decided to add some soul to the ingame characters through dialogue, which has paved the way for storyline missions. Once I get comfortable with the state of the game I'll be pumping those out like there's no tomorrow. For the upcoming release I'll include one or two just so you can get a taste of things to come.

New dialogue panel in action New mission briefing screen

Regarding the game's overall design, I'll be giving moddability a lengthy rest. It's already pretty advanced with variables, but scripting and custom weapons/entities would add such a humongous workload which could delay the game beyond reasonble proprtion. It will definitely be put aside until there's a serious interest in user created content.

I hope to be back with good news very soon!

A very short learning curve, stability, cross-plattform and a good performance made the engine my choice.

Not to forget that the community is very active and nearly every question gets a good answer.

I'm excited what they will do next.

Thanks! As for the "next up", the most prevalent milestones would be further improved Android support as well as finally going Stable.

Along with that, we'll be doing a lot of cool new publicity stuff now that I'm done with my education :D

This engine is why I'm going to learn Java instead of C++. It proves to me that AAA Quality graphics, excellent gameplay, good responsiveness, and stability can be had all at once with an interpreted language.

By "good responsiveness" you mean "lag galore", right?

Developer of 3079 here -- My game wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for this engine. This engine has done so many great things for me, and knowing it is purely Java based allows it to be completely cross-platform without any extra work. Did I mention it is free? These guys deserve tons of credit. This engine is fast and full of features. It also includes a complete Software Development Kit with terrain editors and all sorts of gizmos. Highly recommend this! In response to other review comments…
