Impulse engine is no longer being worked for various reasons. Some people believe that Impulse is based on Darplaces, which is not at all inaccurate. However much of the code is revised/optimized. Darp Warp, the engine originally meant to power Left 4 Quake and succeed Impulse, is entirely based on darkplaces as my hard drive containing Impulse Legacy III had crashed. Thank you for reminding me to credit Darkplaces. We may delete this page in the coming weeks, however the engine will still be available on the i5000 website. I hope you all have a good day and have fun developing new mods or games!

The first public release of Impulse Engine, or more specifically, Impulse Legacy. Impulse Legacy is a branch off from the mainstream Impulse code. Legacy is built to keep Legacy support with Quake based games (eg. Quake, HeXen II etc.) Along with keeping support for Quake engine based games, It has 99.9% support for Darkplaces mods and addons.
You can find this release in the downloads page (if it is not there, it is currently awaiting authorization.).

Impulse will be replaced by my new engine in January. Thats all I can say right now!
since you guys have goldsource bsp loading, how hard would it be to implement source bsp maps?
At the moment I am not sure, I don't know what the difference between Half Life bsp and Half Life 2 bsp. I never really thought of adding hl2 bsp, I might now.
i wanna use it on Half Life, when is coming out the update?
I haven't been able to work on anything recently as my computer is having major hardware and software issues, I hope to have it straightened out soon. The next update should be coming soon, it is a major improvement over the current version, Quite a bit of it will be performance improvements!
How does this go in terms of networking?
What are you looking for? It can do whatever you want most likely.
Well Quakes networking isn't the best. If your engine adds a better networking system for playing online, Then this engine will be the base of my mod, as it is quite amazing.
What I mean by better networking is maybe movement prediction, and make sure information is passed from client to server smoothly so the game runs pretty good. I know alot of people that have very good internet connection, High download/upload speed, and their server sucks. Quake with better networking would just be great.
weird it plays similar to darkplaces the shame though well at least i do like the motion blur or what do you call it ? oh yes parallax mapping
