Hello There,

My name is Matt and I am the lead developer for Game Of Engines. GoE is a game development toolkit that includes all of the tools you need to create stunning 2D/3D games. This article is about the Toolkit's Live Panel.

1. Welcome
Hello again everyone. We are not far from releasing the toolkit but I am still looking to build a bigger fanbase for the Alpha so if you know anybody who would be interested in making their own awesome indie games then please let them know about the toolkit :)

2. What is LivePanel
The GoE Live Panel is a way of ditching the standard toolbar. Instead of simply adding a toolbar and shoving all the details like player position, tile position, Ext onto it, I instead decided to create a small panel at the top of the application that will talk with the player and guide them through the game creation process.

This feature has been in the toolkit for the past few updates but I feel as though I have not touched on this topic as much as I should have done. For those of you still confused as to what the GoE LivePanel is - You can check out some of these screenshot as to what it is:

3. "I Heard On Twitter That The Engine Is Working On Vita, Is This True?"
Yes. The engine is working on the PSVita and ready to be released with the toolkit. However, there is a small problem - We have a lot of platforms to support here and a lot of them require licenses which means if you guys want to make games for the PSVita, DS, Dreamcast, PC, Mac, Hal9000 then we are going to need a bigger fanbase to generate the profit we need to upkeep this project.

4. D-D-Dreamcast?
As mentioned in some earlier posts - The Dreamcast Version of the engine still needs to be updated but for now I am focusing on making games with the engine. Keep in mind, if you guys want the extra platforms as part of the solution then we will need some more followers/watchers.

5. The Deal
I havent touched on this in a couple of weeks so I will bring it up again:
IF WE GET 40 WATCHERS ON MODDB THEN WE WILL GIVE YOU: GAME OF ENGINES FOR WINDOWS
IF WE GET 45 WATCHERS ON MODDB THEN WE WILL GIVE YOU: GAME OF ENGINES FOR OSX
IF WE GET 50 WATCHERS ON MODDB THEN WE WILL GIVE YOU: GAME OF ENGINE FOR UNIX
IF WE GET 55 WATCHERS ON MODDB THEN WE WILL GIVE YOU: FREE ACCESS TO BETA

6. TreeFarm Update
For those of you who are not too sure, TreeFarm is the launch game for the next update of GoE. TreeFarm will feature commented source code so you can learn by playing and you can even create your own custom farm using it. We are just putting the finishing touches onto the game at the moment including a new feature: Every day (game time) you will get money depending on the crops you are currently growing so you can build up a business.

TreeFarm is not going to be a complete game, it is there to give users a reference for Lua Scripting. If you wish to complete the game then be my guest :)

7. Thanks
Thanks for reading. If you like the Toolkit then please leave a comment or send me a message. Additionally, if you would like to get a Press Release build of the toolkit then please message me about that as well.

Thanks For Reading,
Matt
