This engine is the code behind "The game Creator's" FPS Creator development tool, A powerful, yet rough FPS engine. The engine features:

  • A fully working physics system
  • Lighting effects
  • modifiable AI files
  • Model importing ability
  • Multi player deathmatch
  • many stock media files
  • and many more purchasable model packs

While the engine is still rough around the edges, it's being constantly upgraded and improved by it's development team, who aims to squish and destroy as many bugs as possible, and create a powerful, professional, game development tool.

About Into the Dark with 4 comments by IvanErtlov on Apr 2nd, 2014

NOT KIDDING NOW:

ITD will be released on Steam SOON.
We have Oculus Rift support.

And we have improved the game in many ways!

Let´s get to the points:

1. Steam Release:

No exact date yet, but we aim for end of April. And no, we are not talking about an entry on Greenlight, we are talking about a full scale release including Steam Achievements like "Still on top of the food chain!" and "Springtime for Hitler and Germany... ...Winter for Poland and France!".

2. Oculus Rift:

Yes, you can explore the levels in immerse VR 3D. It is as great as it may sound now, however, getting into firefights is not recommended. Testers have vomited more than once.

3. New Textures:

We would like to thank all journalists (and common players) who praised the quality of our textures in their review. However, many of them were NOT what we consider high quality, and due to lazyness we had several texture tiles created by mirroring. Those insults to artists eyes are now gone.

4. Intelligent Motion Blur:

I admit: I personally HATE motion blur in games, especially in those where you don´t run around like a jackrabbit on speed. However, we wanted to reflect the behavior of real eyes as good as possible. Therefore we blur only very subtle on fast head movements through the scene. In addition to that, we have now a realistic blur on objects that move fast and close to the player. hard to show that on screenshots, but take a look at the hands...

5. Improved surface shaders:

The new shader system used for surfaces take the material more into account than previous ones. Example: Rotten wood is normal mapped to reflect the structure, but it´s NOT getting glossy - because, you know, it´s rotten wood. Metallic objects, plastic and polished marble surfaces get glossy in varying degrees.

6. New splashscreen:

Finally an honest tagline beneath a company logo.

What else?

Well, hundreds of bugfixes, new scripts, new videos, new sounds, re-recorded voice overs...
...and all improvements will be patched into the Desura Version afterwards! (Except the Steam achievements, of course...)

Hi! I have 3 questions for anyone who can answer them. So, I downloaded FPS creator free and it says you must disable UAC.

1. What is UAC?
2. Will my computer be harmed if it is disabled?
3. Can I ever turn it back on?

@bamacowboy4: First off, you're extremely new to Windows if you haven't heard of UAC before. UAC stands for "User Account Control," and you can find anything on that just by Googling/searching it. There's 1000'S of stuff on it EVERYWHERE.

I don't see why this engine gets so much criticism, obviously I wouldn't say I'd use it, Unity would came first for me, but still, this is a great engine, and in the right hands can make amazing game, this engine is about up to par with Gld Source, and as we have seen with cry of fear engines of this age can look amazing. Although lets not forget, graphics do not make the game, or are they a measure of how fun they are, I can still play HL today 11 years after it's release and be sucked into an immersion level not achieved by some of today's "game blockbusters"

I like this engine when you add airmod to it. But even Goldsrc blows this away. And source stomps on the ashes.

This engine is only limited by the user. I recommend this if you want to teach yourself programming. It's always best to learn by hours of frustration, other than days of no work at all. This engine was bad enough to give a 10/10. Hooray.
