CryENGINE 2 features many graphical, physical and animation technologies as well as many gameplay enhancements, some of which include:

  • Volumetric 3D Clouds
  • Real time Ambient Maps with dynamic lighting and no premade shadows
  • 3D Ocean Technology dynamically modifies the ocean surface based on wind and wave direction and creates moving shadows and highlights underwater
  • Depth of field to focus on certain objects while blurring out the edges and far away places
  • Vector Motion blur on both camera movement and individual objects
  • Dynamic Soft shadows with objects casting realistic shadows in real time
  • Realistic Facial Animation that can be captured from an actor's face
  • Subsurface scattering
  • Breakable Buildings allowing more tactical preplanning on the player's side
  • Breakable Vegetation (with possibly heavy foliage) enabling players and enemy AI to level entire forests as a tactical maneuver or other purposes
  • Advanced Rope Physics showcasing bendable vegetation responding to wind, rain or character movement and realistically interactive rope bridges
  • Component Vehicle Damage giving vehicles different destroyable parts, such as tires on jeeps or helicopter blades
  • HDR lighting
  • Fully interactive and destructible environments
  • Advanced particle system with fire or rain being affected by forces such as wind
  • Time of Day Lighting, with sunrise, and sunset effects ensuring realistic transition between daytime and nighttime
  • Lightbeams and Shafts when light intersects with solid or highly detailed geometry, and can generate "Godray" effects underwater
  • Parallax Occlusion Mapping giving a greater sense of depth to a surface texture, realistically emphasizing the relief surface structure of objects
  • Long Range View Distance of up to 16km from ingame measurements
  • Parametric Skeletal Animation System
  • Procedural Motion Warping

As well as supporting Shader Model 2.0, 3.0 (DirectX 9) and 4.0 (DirectX 10), the engine will be multi-threaded to take advantage of SMP or hyper-threading capable systems. The game will also come in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Crytek claims that running the 64-bit version will give a performance increase of up to 10-15% per thread. Crytek does not intend to support any sort of Physics Processor such as the AGEIA PhysX. Instead, Crytek have developed their own proprietary physics system, called CryPhysics.

Everything you’d like to know:

1. Continuations of N7 is only possible in the case of success of the first episode, which contains two campaigns – “Ascent” and “Defeat”.
2. NEYA-7 – is a result of work of two developers, with the support of friends, volunteers and ex. CryZone: Sector 23 team.   
3. NEYA-7 is not an open-world game, like the typical S.T.A.L.K.E.R, but you’re still free to decide, what will be your passage. 
4. Mod contains side-quests, which can be either taken from NPC’s who usually stay in the camps, or found by your own. 
5. NEYA-7 soundtrack consists of the CryZone:Sector 23 soundtrack by 85%. 
6. There is no propaganda for or against any side of the ongoing Ukrainian conflict, and the conflict itself does not exist in the game universe. 
7. Mod has a dynamic time of day change. 
8. We have the greatest amount of cut-scenes among the S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Crysis mods.
9. NEYA has four levels, one of which does not appear in the storyline.
10. S.T.A.L.K.E.R elements. You are still able to reveal anomalies with bolts and bypass them. In some places a gas mask can be useful. The dialogue box has been remade for the storyline purposes and you’ll have to make decisions as in Mass Effect. 
11. Combat system is aligned in favor of the player. You can be killed by 8-14 bullets, while enemies die from 5-6 on the average. It is not hard to survive if you use covers and change your position timely, but the enemies are a serious threat.
12. You won’t kill more than 50 men throughout the game.
13. Mod contains three dungeons available for exploration.
14. Flooded
Pripyat has its own underwater anomalies and fauna.
15. Merit

16. Voice.
Fourteen voice actors involved.
17. Plot.
Now there are lots of plot weaknesses – we’ve been working on their fixing forthe last few months. Yet the characters have no motivation.
18. Atmosphere.
Each level has its own atmosphere. Pripyat shows us a brave new world; the Gloomy location demonstrates the eeriness and abandonment, and demise of humanity in the case of the apocalypse. The very first location, nevertheless,demonstrates a typical war confrontation. Desert location shows the familiar to S.T.A.L.K.E.R fans atmosphere of survival in a hostile world.
19. Visuals.
Because of the relatively small phase load we set the graphics to the maximum, based on the relatively "inexpensive hardware" of our fans. As a result – the system requirements are just a little bit higher than those of the Crysis.
20. After a year since the last release date delay, we’ve almost completely redesigned all locations,and also mate a hugeredesign of, practically, everything in the game, what you could have observed for the entire year.
