Description

This download conveniently installs and launches the Mac OSX version of the stanley parable. Half Life 2 is still required.

I hope someone sees this. I just created an account here to make this comment, so I should probably also mention this is the first time I've tried to play a mod for HL2.

I'm trying to run the Mac version. I have Half-Life 2 installed. Everything seems to work fine, it has installed itself in Steam just as it should. But when I try to play, I get the message "Source SDK Base 2007 is not available on your current platform." Is this something I am doing wrong? Forgive me for seeming like a noob, but being a Mac user, I don't get many opportunities to play with these sort of things.

The Stanley Parable was highly recommended to me, and from the little I've heard it sounds great! I'd love to be able to play it!

A little inquiry. Do I really need Source SDK Base 2007 to play this mod.. When I try to run it, it opens up steam and prompts me to install Source sdk base.. I have HL2, so why do i need that too?

I had to do three things to make this work on Mac OSX.

1. Make sure HL2 is installed via Steam
2. Edit the The Stanley Parable.app/Contents/MacOS/run.sh file and change line 8 from

STEAMUSERID=""

to

STEAMUSERID="common"

3. Replace the gameinfo.txt file with the one found here: Pastebin.com

The new gameinfo.txt file was the result of applying this hack: Steamcommunity.com

To start the game, you will need to double-click the "The Stanley Parable" icon in Finder. Running it from Steam will not work (it will complain about not having the Source SDK Base 2007)

I am having a problem where I double-click to play but the screen flashes gray and returns to my desktop screen. I have both SDKs, Half-Life 2, and I ran all three of them to make sure they word. But "The Stanley Parable" still will not run. Any suggestions?
