Please remember this is work-in-progress and that many aspects are "first attempts" at fixing things. Balance and stability will come at a later stage once all the game's secrets are found ;)
MK2 Pulse Rifle returns (40/60 ammo, 900rpm) with a missing Ammo Counter (my fault, it'll be fixed soon) and better balancing.
Auto Shotgun damage reduced slightly
Combat Shotgun damage reduced
Hick's Shotgun damage greatly increased. Max ammo reduced, 12 pellets
Hudson's Pulse Rifle 95rnd, full auto 900rpm. Max ammo reduced
Under-barrel shotgun's use same ammo as Hick's (and now hold 4)
Under-barrel Grenades do more damage (balanced in MP) (and also hold 4)
Fire is more lethal
Incendiaries more lethal
Smart-Gun recoil mechanics reworked, bullet spread and accuracy of tracking adjusted. First attempt at removing the blue-ness of its HUD (works on sulaco)
Xeno AI timing reworked to rely less on speed and more on movement.
Xeno's slowed down generally (except Lurkers)
Further adjustment to insta-kill move so its used less
More vulnerabilities opened up (waiting before things etc) to give you a bit more chance
Face-Hugger fight is easier. Not too much mind you, it took a few of em to pull it off Ripley!
O'Neil's smartgun reworked to be more useful
Installer checks for and removes read-only state from My Doc's files so that they can be replaced.
This should resolve all install issues.
Jonny Thunder really stepped up and polished off the installer! It now should handle pretty much any situation and successfully install and setup the mod for you!
For re-configuring the mod, backup options including 'no backup' are available (for changing difficulty or master effects) along with a progress bar to see how the installation is going!
If you have problems with the game not working correctly, comment here including any failures under the "Processing [ALWAYS_COPY] section..." section of the installer log. I tested this in many situations though and it succeeded every time!
Hadley's Hope has had a bit of love. The atmosphere inside is so thick you could cut it!
Custom object materials and shaders, plus particle effects and cinematic effects have had the overhaul for the primary complex. The changes here span the entire Hadley's Hope section of the campaign, but only the first 2 missions are full done!

Low Quality...... : SSGI (Low Quality), DOF (Medium Quality)
Lowest Quality.. : DOF (Medium Quality)
SMAA - Sub-Pixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing is an advanced AA technique that uses distance to improve quality and performance of AA on complex scenes.
SSGI - Screen Space Global Illumination is the simulation of light bouncing off surfaces to light things nearby. Adds incredible depth to the entire game. HIGHLY recommended!
DOF - Depth of Field is a constant effect that blurs near of far object according to what you are aiming at.
I highly recommend you play on at least Low setting. SSGI really REALLY adds to this dark game, and these settings are quite cheap. I use Medium and play at 1366x768 instead of Lowest at 1920x1080 because of how much better SSGI makes the game. Nvidia GTX660
That said, Master Effects is completely optional and does not need to be used. You may need to adjust in-game brightness to compensate without it.
Difficulty Options (Easiest to Hardest)
Weaker Soldiers........... - Much lower health
Slower Soldiers............ - Much slower movement
Slower Tougher Soldiers - Much slower movement, alot more health
Default Mod................. - Fast movement with good health
Faster Soldiers............. - Extremely fast movement with good health
Tougher Soldiers.......... - Fast movement with alot more health
Faster Tougher Soldiers. - Extremely fast movement with alot more health
Please bear in mind that these difficulty options have not been tested. Default Mod has been, with the difficulty options configured before release by adjusting the appropriate stats.

Over the top should work. But you may want to disable read-only on PecanEngine.ini before installing.

Hi thanks for responding I re-installed and it now say Success instead of Failure..Question I watched an awesome video on YouTube showing off the Mod V2 of the Mod and the lighting from light sources like room lights is very bright and has cool Bloom effects..the version I installed V4 seems that the lights in rooms are a lot less Bright and more Dull with this version..is that what you guys where going for In version 4 or is it me? Thanks
The initial V2 version comes with a highly stylized Master Effects setup that is quite CPU intensive, not everyone liked it, and so were missing out on some important ME features. I decided for now to switch to a much friendlier (and faster) setup that doesn't do any color shifting and tonemapping adjustment for you.
If you have V2, you can just install its Master Effect's files to regain that look on V4!
Thanks for this! I'm sure you already know but the pulse rifle reload sounds are now out of sync with the anims. I think you already mentioned the ammo counter not working too. Apart from that its looking really good!
Yes more bugs! Sorry about this. It also seems the sound for the rapid fire mod doesnt work properly (sigh)
Haha! Sorry. I'm a game tester by day and when I find a bug I feel an overwhelming urge to tell someone. Have you thought about setting up some mean of bug tracking? Or are comments enough?
This is on the todo list. for now comments are enough because they are recorded at least! No apologies required, throw those bugs at me! (just make sure they're dead!)
Yea please fix the pulse rifle sound. In my case it doesn't make any sound at all.
Aside from that the mod is looking better by days!

Installer for V4 dosen´t work for me and my buddies. It say there is no ACM.exe, when you choose the directory. My boodies got the same issue. V3 runs without trouble.

Uh. Check to see if the installer "runs as administrator" turn that off if it does. Thanks Microsoft
The checks for the ACM.exe haven't changed since the last version. The installer expects you to pick the "Aliens Colonial Marines" folder and checks in relation to that, so picking a folder above or below that level won't work (such as the bin directory or the steam directory). Choosing the wrong directory OR not having an ACM.EXE file are the only ways this issue will show.

That was not the problem.
I´ll download the ACM.exe new from staem and set the the V4 installer "start as admin". After this, it worked.
Don´t know why, but it is strange. V3 installer worked like a charm, without "start as admin.
Facehugger health is crazy high for the speed they move at.
Ran into a one that took 10 rounds of smg and 5 rounds of pistol just to kill it lol. lil guys are scarier then the aliens.

Yeah they are! I just rewatched the movie, even Vasques takes about 5 rounds to kill it with a Pulse Rifle.
Great mod guys. Looks more atmospheric. Had to enable DSR (nvidia dynamic super resolution) to get it to look just right. Thing is the aliens are kicking my but and wonder is there a god mode setting??

The God mode currently doesn't work. Use Weaker Soldiers to make it easier, or slower
Hey, I can't seem to get the game to launch. I verified the integrity of game cache before I installed v4 just to be safe, ran the installer as administrator, it said it was successfully installed. When I tried launching it from steam, it said running for a bit, then cut back without launching. Did the same thing when I launched from ACM.exe in the binaries folder after running it as admin. Help?

Nothing, it never leaves the desktop. My steam portrait gets the green border, it stays for a sec, then it goes back to blue. (sorry for the anon, on my phone, but it is still CaptainAdmen!)

okay, I tried again today and something completely different happened! It started to launch, said "Completing installation" then said the servers were too busy and gave me error 41 (which has no reference on the page it linked me to)
Common ACM / Steam issue. just keep trying to start the game until that goes away!
I am a little confused, is Hadleys Hope a Bug Hunt map or is it part of the campaign?
Both. Tribute is a bug-hunt map of Hadley's hope before it was destroyed in Aliens the movie. In the campaign you visit the same location, but its after the explosion so alot is destroyed
I follow instruction, but after I finish install and then I lunch games it stopped working and steam say error 44 :( and I already have .NET 3.5
Error 44 is "game installation corrupt"

Hi I can fix in, It's a original problem
1. Documents\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame and then delete Config folder
2. control panel>Clock, Language, and Region>Change the date,
time, or number format>Administrative>Change system locale...> change to English(United State)
Then install mod and play.
Now I can play it perfect, but in next update can you make normal pluse rifle rounds come back to be 95-99 rounds like in V2

one thing i've hated about this game was the way the Aliens stood up and run towards you. The animations look so wired with its arms wide out.... any way to change that down the line ?.
Also my game crashes and re-launches all the time, after i freed the marine at the start, after i go though the door the game crashes then.
There is a steam guide to fix this permanently. its a base game issue
as for the standing up. this was re-introduced as having them run up to your feet on all fours before standing and killing you made it suuuuuper freaking hard
wish it was kept in. AvP never had them running standing up 'only when very near you for the final strike :-D '.
Wait until the proper difficulty options come in (v5).

Many have reported this but unf. I do not expierence it. next version will include a laptop config, it will be interesting to see if this resolves it for you. Intersting to note is that people with way better machines than mine have this crash but I dont
I also am experiencing this and definitely have a higher end machine. I'm using the new i7-6700k processor and a geforce 980ti. Maybe we can find a common ground for the issue based on our hardware?
