Enhanced MOS v1.70 Sub-Mod improves and enhances several aspects of the original mod! ----- LAST UPDATE: Aug 27, 2015 - COMPLETE EDITION!
Greetings!
This reshaping sub-mod is compatible with the latest patch of MOS v1.70 (all inclusive patch 01-04 + hotfix patch 05), so it requires the newest version available until now.
Enhanced MOS v1.70 Sub-Mod - COMPLETE EDITION improves and enhances several aspects of the original mod:
- several units have been added for all factions (both campaign and custom battles): most of them converted from DAC sub-mod, others unlocked within the game. Max cap on units reached, no more space left: 500 units in-game awaits for you;
- some bug-fixes and improvements/changes in campaign_script file and descr_regions file;
- changed throwing attack animation of many foot skirmishers. Old slower animations have been replaced with new faster ones. Foot javelinmen are now more useful;
- altered statistics and numbers of several foot bodyguard units (generals) for a better balance. Heroes' bodyguards have been adapted as well;
- revisited character's movement points and guilds availability to all factions;
- added voices/images/UI cards/units description to all new troops and altered costs for watchtowers;
- changed a few army positions at startgame;
- added new hidden_resources to match additional units and change recruitment locations of others already existent (especially Gondor);
- several changes concerning bonuses/recruitment/requirements/unit availability in EDB file;
- some alterations in EDU file as regards pre-existent units, plus the implementation of new units;
- revisited and reworked the mercenary system (new units are available and the overall distribution is changed);
- recruitable generals (bodyguards) for all factions;
- some unit/building descriptions have been modified to fit the new changes and/or solve existing issues;
- fixed various bugs on "silver units" (now they have proper textures, UI cards and unit images added as well);
- More differentation between "good mercs" and "bad mercs" in the mercenary system file;
- reworked the whole guild system (now guilds are easier to be build and are accessible early in cities than in castles);
- some adjustments in EDU and battle_models files to solve bugs affecting units;
- added several graphic minimods for a better gameplay experience (see Credits);
- other small improvements/adjustments here and there.

DOWNLOAD
It's easy, you can download the .7z archive here from Mod DB.
SETUP
First of all, make always a BACKUP of your entire Third Age data folder!
You must install Large Address Aware (only for 64-bit systems with >3GBs of RAM): firstly, consult Titanium - PC Optimization Guide and TECHPOWERUP threads! Put LAA.exe into your M2TW main folder and then run it: select your kingdom.exe and then patch it (you also need to check the enabler switcher box). LAA will strongly reduce your CTDs!
You MUST HAVE vanilla MOS v1.70 (+ all inclusive patch 01-04 and hotfix patch 05), without any other mods!
Then, download the .7z archive and extract all files included into data folder in the main data folder of Third Age mod (path - C:\Programs Files\SEGA\Medieval 2 Total War\mods\Third_age_3\data). OVERWRITE ALL THE FILES when requested!
After having finished the extraction, DELETE events.dat and events.idx in sounds folder (path - data\sounds).
Delete map.rwm file in data\world\maps\base before starting a new campaign. REMEMBER! Just wait a minute after having selected "start game": map.rwm file needs to be regenerated by the engine.

Winged swordsmen are but Osgiliath archers not.. instead, you're able to recruit Master Rangers of Ithilien besides "standard rangers"..

Well, I was referring to the hotfix too.. :) you find it in my "downloads" section for now.
A new campaign is required. I honestly think the game is pretty stable now.. As we all know, CTDs may occur only when dealing with spiders, ents or wolves.

I just want to ask if the dwarves armors like the hobbit are part of this one? where in we see new dwarven armors similar to that of the movies? Is it in this game? i downloaded the other parts 1.7 and it was a hell lot of time to download like 2 days and upon seeing this , it gets me quite confused.. Can I download this without downloading the 2 parts of 1.7?

Please follow the setup guide step by step and you won't experience issues.
Remember to do a back-up of the unmodified MOS. My submod requires the latest version, so you must have MOS 1.7 plus all three bugfixes. Put all files of the archive into "data" folder of MOS mod and overwrite everything. Delete the files mentioned above in the guide before starting a new game. Pay attention to follow each step properly.

I saw those units, really impressive imo.
Nevertheless, I cannot just add them at the moment as I've already reached the full units cap. Basically, there is no space left for extra units.
Anyway, I'm going to wait next MOS release to see what kind of improvements/units I may bring in. Indeed, I was thinking about cutting off some troublesome units like spiders, wolves (and possibly ents?) to make space for new entries. We'll see.

First of all you must download MOS part 1 and part 2, then patch it to the latest bug fix (the #3). After that, you can install my Submod over it.

for some reason after i installed ure mod following every step i got a fatal grapichs error and its only for this mod
When you have fatal graphics errors, it is mandatory to install LAA. It's the kind of software which solves issues like the one you had. Try installing it and then see if my Submod works.. :)

Use LAA to patch my kingdoms.exe cause an "Application Error". My system is 64bit and have 4GB RAM. How do i fix it ?
Do you have a M2TW steam version?..
Because LAA usually doesn't seem to work well with steam versions.
If so, try installing my Submod without using LAA. It should work either way. :)
Yes I use steam version. But if i play without LAA, It keep random CTD and say I set the settings too high. I already set everything low settings. This error never happen until i use this patch. It's not constantly crash, just about 15-30 min, so i can keep playing with it but i hope you can find out how to fix it. Cheers

LAA doesn't work with Steam version of kingdoms.exe so you can't play MOS with my sub-mod collection... It can't be fixed, sorry.
I've got a question, do the wolves work now?
Most times they tend to cause CTDs, as Spiders and Ents; although I managed to fight them. You might try fighting them in battle several times until they do not crash. That's the only warkaround, for now.

Before you ask, my Enhanced submod isn't compatible with the fourth new patch released for MOS 1.7. I don't have installed MOS on my hard-drive atm, yet give me a bit of time and i'll update my submod, so that it's gonna be compatible with the latest patch.

The new version is just out. It contains all the material from previous releases plus several nice improvements/changes. And it is fully compatible with the latest patch for MOS 1.70, the all inclusive patch.

so does ally allies work on this, cause i keep pressing shift A and nothing, there' was this scroll that opened up at the beginning of my campaing, it was nto a script to accept or decline, simply a scroll notifying me that I can press shift+a to use that and nothing has happened, I'm sick and tired of the dwarves fighting the high elves.
It's really strange, it's just work fine for me: when I press Shift + A a panel shows up and then I can use the script as intended. It works both with vanilla Mos and with Enhanced Submod installed.
I don't know, maybe you should have an ally before exploiting this script.
However, I didn't change scripts, they are the same as in vanilla MOS 1.70.
I had the same problem with the Diplomacy Script( SHIFT + A didnt worked) but found a fix.You have to delete a file in yout medieval II folder.Look for the folder "preferences" and delete a file named keys.dat.
Deleting that file fixed the problem for me.I hope will work for you too.
I have to mention that i'm playing medieval II steam version.

I killed Saruman but i didnt get any announcement that he was killed or something.It was like i killed any other general on the map.If i remember well ,in the original Third Age if u killed Saruman the game would announce that he was kiled.I'm just mentioning this because its important for the immersion.

I started a new campaign with this and after almost 100 turns it crashes when i try to load a savegame. Any help?
You should send me the system.log file, it can help a lot. Btw, bear in mind that saves can get corrupted sometimes, always keep two or, better, three saves of your current campaign. If one causes crashes, you have other saves as an alternative. Unfortunately, that's a common issue of M2TW.
Already reinstalled. I had three saves and none of them work. Bad luck i guess. Nevertheless thanks.
And what about new hotfix? Will work with this submod?
Well, I suggest you to wait just a little. I'm uploading the new version compatible with the latest hotfix patch 05. I'll put it on MODDB as soon as it's ready.
I cannot guess what made your saves to crash, but take a look at the system.log, maybe we can find out the source of the problem, if we're lucky.

I have the same problem. I played a game with Lothlorien and after 30 turns I couldn't load my save game because I got the unspecified error thing. Then I started another one and it crashed again around turn 80... Everything worked fine on Third Age total war before. I have insalled all the patches (01-05) and I'm using the Steam version so I don't have the LAA. I'll send you the log file.

Please keep in mind that Enhanced MOS Submod requires vanilla MOS 1.70 + all inclusive patch 01-04 + hotfix patch 05.

I can't find any logs related to this.
You can find it in medieval II folder, precisely into the "logs" folder. You will see a file named system.log.
