Does this fix the Jupiter crash that has to do with the sound?

That was fixed in an earlier patch, you just needed to start a new game :)

Since installing this patch (I didn't start a new game) the game crashes when I try to enter Jupiter (whether by guide or by the map-area). Any ideas?

The file is "unavailable at the moment" I really hope it only is a temporary problem.

Need to correct some weapons stats, like abakan rate of fire, it fire more faster than a gatling gun :@ and weapons with 7.63, 5.52 bullet do more damage than the vintorez 9.39, a shotgun is more accurate than the Dragunov SVU (WTF!!). The no-crosshair is not realistic to me, on real life most people know where the bulletss will hit without ironsight it, u need to put at least an estatic point, like the original binocular crosshair . Putting more bullets on dead stalkers weapons will be more realistic than the ridiculous 3 to 5 bullets

The Abakan's rate of fire is a mistake made by the developers, I imagine taken from RCOM. In RCOM, it had 1800 RPM rate of fire, but it was only in single or two round burst mode. About the 5.56 and 5.45 doing more damage than 9x39, that does need to be corrected in my opinion. The bullet, being 9mm in diameter, should do a reasonable amount of damage compared to 5.45 and 5.56, because of it's sheer weight and size. Besides, the 5.56 isn't very efficient with most rifles it uses, as the rifling on the barrels basically makes it into a .22 LR. Not having a crosshair is realistic; people know where the bullets will hit without the ironsight or crosshair in real life, so why do you need it in-game? I do think that bodies should carry at least one or maybe five magazines from the weapon they were using. Not that you should have all of that ammo, but it would create something useful to sell.

You know nothing of the 5.56. When fired from an M16A4, it is accurate in excess of 400 meters.

It's speed is over 940 M/s (3100 FT/s)

It's also very accurate when used in an American style barrel (1 and 7 or 9 twist)

But you probably don't understand what I'm saying...considering you think a thicker bullet automatically means "more powerful"...lol

Way to correct me three years later, bub. I've learned quite a bit between then and now about weapons and ballistics, and agree with you on all points. M193 in particular was excellent for mutilating tissue because of its instability in flight, so much that other countries considered it inhumane and refused to adopt the round until the Belgians came up with the SS109. Sorry if my former ignorance bothered you, but you should consider that a lot of time has passed.

In my experience (teaching infantry recruits), unless they look down the sights you have absolutely no idea where the rounds will end up...:)

Is it advisable to use Atmosfear 3 installed on top of Redux 1.05b?

Is there a way to keep the damn crosshair on without having to enable it every time i load the game? is pretty annoying, like this.. and i know that that know disable it but really, leaving it to be enable or not like vanilla will be better for mot people, moreover i think that unlike people who have trianed themselves with FPS so much to play well even without crosshair, in reality proportion and wideness of FOD are different from videogame, and pointing a gun without ironsight makes very difficult to hit somebody, if he's not so near to touch your nose..

its easier to use the console command 'hud_crosshair on' when you start a session then when you load a save reopen the console and press up arrow for the same command and hit enter. much less annoying than doing it through menu each time.

I found a better way to re-enable crosshair the same night as my earlier comment. In game directory, default is 'C:\Program Files\bitComposer Games\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat', locate file 'user_atmosfear.ltx' and open with Notepad and edit last line 'hud_crosshair off' to 'hud_crosshair on', crosshair is now enabled at all times from start up.

I would be almost as unsuccessful without the crosshair as I would without invert mouse.

well you can't obviously shoot on mid-long distance, without crosshair you can fit in close distance, just like you would do with a shotgun.. invert mouse? i really can't imagine how you can aim with that, i guess you're used to :D

Just found this mod. Questions. Do I need to install ALL these patches just to use this, 'Redux" mod?

I've played S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:CoP to no end and am now sort of bored with it. I've been playing desowaves' Lost Alpha for SoC.

Do these patches come with their own installer or, do I have to insert them all, manually?

You need either "Redux Base" which is a lite version without graphical upgrades or "Redux Full" and the newest patch "1.05b". But i still wouldn't bet for it to run completely crash free.

Does this work with steam?

Should work. Just run the game through COP.exe in the steam folder not through Steam client (shut steam down while playing COP with mods). Some mods don't like Steam for only God knows what reasons.
