Description

You are a detective named Hughes who is called to investigate strange events and mysterious murders that have been happening in a small village of New England. The prologue in this demo serves as a proof-of-concept of a potential full game and aims to set the mood and atmosphere we would like for it. Your goal in this demo is to find a way out of the room at all costs. Looks for clues, visual cues and audio cues that point you to elements of interests in the room.

I found everything I needed before getting the crowbar. Wandering around knowing what needed doing but without having any way to interact with the world was very frustrating.

Yeah, it was one of our challenges, directing the player. We tried our best with text cues, audio cues and the little map, but as we can see, it works for some and other no. We didn't want to be too obvious either. And interactivity was something we aimed for at the conception phase, but as it went on, we didn't stay consistent with it. It's something that came up with testing as well. Having almost everything interactive/animated with a trigger such as the drawer, books, nightstand would have indeed made it move alive.

Ya, when you die there, it's supposed to be the end. I would have liked credits, but our level designer wanted otherwise...he kinda wanted it to be a loop like in a short story or something.

Is there a reason why you guys uploaded the mod including all your .svn files? You essentially doubled the download size that way 0_o. Unless you plan to have people update it on the fly, I would suggest you use the svn-export option next time :-D

Wow.... just wow! I am amazed. Really, I have been playing penumbra which has been scaring the hell out of me, but out of that little map I got even more scared then any other game ive played. *SPOILERS* The part were you open the door and the face flashes at you scared me so much I screamed in vent... *SPOILERS*

Please, keep this mod up! I really would like to see more of this! I love these kind of games.
