Sound replacement for Quake. High Quality, Same Attitude.
I went through my old 'Sound Ideas' CDs, finding the original sources, re-editing all sounds to be CD quality, longer loops, alternative sounds for Modders (for example, jump now can have a 8 samples rotation)
The goal is no just replacing sounds, which would ruin the game, but to keep the mood of the game in today's audio standards.
This release is under Creative Commons 3.0, meaning you can:
Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose.
Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.

Sounds in the 'player' directory are edits of the original Quake Sounds, so you can't use those for commercial purposes.
Still, they are freely usable for non-commercial purposes under Quake's GPL.
- Installation -
Place the file 'Quake-Eargasm.pk3' in your Quake/id1 directory
- requirements -
Any modern Quake Engine port that reads .pk3 files
In alternative you can open the Quake-Eargasm.pk3 file using winzip (or equivalent) and unzip the content in your quake/id1 directory
As a bonus for MOD creators, here's a list of additional sounds you can use to diversify.
Randomizing the Jump sound, for example, is not a bad idea.

how do you use this with quake epsilon build
Delete Mindgrid from the id1 folder... Or download Pakscape to open the pak of both Mindgrid and Eargasm, and drag every sound from one to the other. Maybe use my sound mod, too. It will take care of the sounds that this and Mindgrid never touched. And I mean every single one.
So this is pretty much original sounds but really high quality? If so this is exactly what I need. Expensive headphones but this game lacks severely audio wise. Don’t want anything drastic tho
Some sounds are changed, if you want a full-on HD VANILLA EXPERIENCE, check out my mod. It ain't drastic, but the file is big, and is gonna get bigger soon.
