Final version of the mod. Contained some minor changes. Fixed fps drop in and outside sewer map. Has Mac OS and Linux support. REQUIRED Amnesia 1.3 version. INSTALLING: 1. Install Amnesia - The Dark Descent 2. Apply patch 1.3 (You do not need this update if you have the game on a service such as Steam ) 3. Copy the folder Necrologue_eng to the root folder of Amnesia. Do not overwrite anything, just paste that folder next to Amnesia.exe file. 4. Open Necrologue_eng folder, copy necrologue_eng.bat and paste them to the root folder, just like in the section 3. 5. Run necrologue_eng.bat

Good thing the very first version worked fine for me, I do not wanna lay my hands on patch 1.3.
Why? Did you have bad experiences with it?
I found some glitches too (the pigs you can pick up are deformed - example), but I think it didn't do any damage.
Yes, VERY bad experiences. I first got it in order to play the custom story 'Premonition" and not only are their glitches, I've got a lot of crashes going on with it, as if it corrupted something within the files. Even some of the regular custom stories weren't working properly. and other FC mods started working messed up, including my own mod. and after all that crap, I had to re-install the whole game.
Any idea how to get this to run in a windowed form? my mouse glitches out when i run Amnesia in fullscreen and I've set the game to run in a windowed res but the mod seems to like doing its own thing

Anybody else experiencing serious mouse issues with this game?
First time I got the game working (after having to restart it 3 times, and be forced to watch the unskippable opening cutscene as many times, until I finally was rid of the black screen when you get control of your character, thus rendering you unable to play), the camera was moving slowly, constantly to the left.
At first I thought this was intentional, as the character said "My head won't stop spinning". I thought it was dumb, but I just rolled with it.
Then I saved and stopped playing.
Started playing again a few minutes ago, and when I got back into the game the camera was just spinning at high speed constantly. I should mention that everything else works fine, just the camera moves on its own accord.
I restarted it a couple times, and now the camera doesn't move on its own anymore, but I can't move it on the horizontal axis anymore. Only vertical.
Restarted a good dozen times, now it's stuck in this state.
Any clues as to how to fix it? Or do you think you can release a fix?
The game worked fine for me - no camera issues. The camera should feel the same as Amnesia without any mods. Not sure what settings you are using; it may be worth setting everything in the options menu to default and deleting/renaming the savedata folder to see if that makes a difference. Starting with a clean slate may help. I broke things by configuring options, as mentioned in my post below, but it is a completely separate issue from the one you are having.
That happens to me too when I leave my game controller plugged in the PC. I am guessing you too have a controller and if so - just unplug it and restart the game :)
IF it's not the controler... I don't know then...
Quite a Professional Mod
At the time I wrote this, I was only on the third level (Refrigeratory), but I want to let the developer team know - I love your mod! It feels as if it were an official Product of Frictional Games. The voice actors actually sound like they care (sadly many voice actors lacked enthusiasm in other mods), the graphics were ported to the Amnesia engine quite well from a front-end perspective, and the level design is similar to Black Plague.
So far, I feel this is what Frictional Games should have done with Requiem...you don't cancel a game series on a cliffhanger like that, unless you want to suffer the wrath of Sheldon Cooper. (And yes, I hardly count Requiem as a continuation, although it was fun for the puzzles...would have been more fun going in with a different set of expectations.)
Q/A Report
That being said, I want to bring a few bugs to the attention other end-users and the developers:
- When reading a note, pressing the arrow-key down causes the game to crash.
- When entering the third level (Refridgeratory) with the following setting:
TextureQuality="1" in Amnesia/Necrologue_eng/main_settings.cfg
the game will crash. If set to zero instead, the level loads normally. This applies whether the level is entered from the previous level (Collector), or loaded from savedata though the main menu.
I tried to find the simplest recipe to reproduce these bugs so in the interest of helping the developers in the future if they choose to release updates/ patches (I do realize that 1.2 is marked as the final version). I also hope to save other users the frustration I have had with crashes.
Grr to Moddb for the 5 minute edit limit. I always find my grammar errors the second or third time I proofread my writing - they are completely preventable. It makes me look like I can't English...

If would help if you were more descriptive about the issues you are having - that makes it easier for the community to give you advice that is helpful and specific to your problem. My guess is that you are having trouble putting the files in the right place. If you are new to mods, this can be frustrating...
Locate the batch files used for launching the game. The below files are included with the mod.
Necrologue_eng.bat
Necrologue_eng_nosteam.bat
The one you need must be in the redist (Amnesia install) folder. The batch file you will need depends on whether you have a Steam or retail version. If you are using a retail copy, you need to also copy the executable "AmnesiaTest131111.exe" to the redist directory. I think the Steam version uses the default executable, but I can't say for sure as I only have the retail copy.
When in doubt, look at the contents of the batch files used for launching the game. Notice that they specify two parameters in their file paths. The first points to the executable, and the second to main_init.cfg. You can tell whether the batch file is in the correct folder based on the file path. You can put it anywhere you want as long as the file path is correct.
And of course, the mod folder "Necrologue_eng" must be extracted to root of the redist folder - do not copy all of the sub-folders. If you end up trying to merge folders...that's bad - don't do it. Do not copy "Necrologue_eng" into the "custom_stories" folder either - that also will not work.
I do suggest re-reading the instructions as they are valid. If you are having trouble understanding something in the guide, it's better to ask as others may have the same exact question.

Guest uninstall the game and then reintall it .. then put the bat. and the necrologue in the game .. dont insert what inside the folder into game directory .. just insert the folder and the bat.

How do I install this mod ? because I have installed this mod as other mod and it doesn't work :(
It constantly crashes at saving time on Linux.
Worked perfectly (including saves and performance) until I reached the sewers where the performance severely drops and started crashing.
Tried both the Steam version and standalone one (both 1.3) with the same results.
This very likely seems to be a bug in Amnesia (Linux) and not Necrologue.

Shame that the install screws up your main directory, rather than using the custom stories function for what it's meant for.
You're right, but this isn't a custom story. It's a full conversion
My point is that it would be better as a custom story, rather than breaking the original game.

I just wanted to say this is a great game. Also, congrats on getting green lit! You made some seriously tricky puzzles in this in my opinion and really kept in the vein of the other Penumbra games.

TrollingAntMan bro you just have to put the bat. and the folder into amnesia folders .. dont insert what inside the folder as :( entites - texture - etc. ) it will damage your game and other custom stories :)

I have a retail version of amnesia the dark descent. I followed all the directions and when I try to load the game it says: missing zlipwapi.dll I did search of my folders and could not come up with this file. Any suggestions on this one?
I have the steam version. When launching the batch file I have error saying "FATAL error: could not init steam" (steam is running perfectly fine). It has to do with the original Amnesia.exe file. When I double click that I have the same error. Any help?

I had issues with missing files with the download.
I then deleted the download and used Steam to download Necrologue for Free and it includes the Twilight mod as well.
those errors went away.
I did however get a error when starting a New game right after the Cut scene played. Amnesia.Exe stopped working.
In the Graphic options Textures needs to be set to high instead of Med or Low.
setting it too high fixed the problem for me.
Whenever I try to load an autosave or whenever I click continue, the game crashes in the loading screen. If you already know about this issue, can you please tell me how to fix it? I've wanted to play this mod for so long DX
