Massive Overhaul Submod install file part 1.
This is the first of the two full version install files. You need both of them to install the mod successfully!
Massive Overhaul Submod (MOS) 1.7 full version install instructions:
Platform = Medieval II Total War Kingdoms with a clean working and non modded version of the Third Age Total War mod installed.
Alternatively to these written instructions, you can also use this VIDEO, made by Lionheartx10. It shows how to install TATW, MOS 1.7 and DaC. Note that MOS 1.7 and DaC cannot be installed both at the same time!
1) Download the "MOS Full version 1.70.rar" part 1 and part 2 files.
2a) For non Steam versions of Medieval II Total War Kingdoms: Extract the "MOS Full version 1.70.rar" files to the "mods" folder. In a standard install, you can find it here:
***\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3
When asked if files should be overwritten, choose yes (all). That's it, you can now start the game by clicking the "Third Age.bat" file that is located in your "Third_Age_3" folder. Of course you can also make a shortcut to the "Third Age.bat" file, place it anywhere you want and use that to start the game.
2b) For Steam versions of Medieval II Total War Kingdoms: Extract the "MOS Full version 1.70.rar" files to the "mods" folder. In a standard install, you can find it here:
***\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3*
When asked if files should be overwritten, choose yes (all). That's it, you can now start the game by clicking the "Third Age.bat" or the "Third Age - Steam.bat" file that is located in your "Third_Age_3" folder. One of the two should work.* Of course you can also make a shortcut to the these files, place it anywhere you want and use that to start the game.
3) Install the patch(es)
* This is the folder path where Third Age Total War typically would be installed after the latest Steam update for Medieval II Total War.
* What file to use depends on which method you deployed to start your Steam Third Age Total War install. "Third Age.bat" starts the "kingdoms.exe" file whereas "Third Age - Steam.bat" starts the "medieval2.exe" file.

Can't get it to download and it keeps saying it will take 8 to 10 hours to do so.

Finally got it downloaded, it took all night! Now I know the instructions just say extract the files and overwrite the existing ones, but do I have to go to each individual folder and do it or what?
Great, now I'm getting an error with one of the music files
I'm getting an error with one of the music files as well, did the mod work despite this?
You need part 1 and 2 for a successful install. Just extract those files to your mods folder. Do not "go to each individual folder"
It won't work if your "Third_Age_3" folder is not a sub-folder of the mods folder though. Or if you have renamed the "Third_Age_3 folder to something else.
can i use kingdoms insted of kingdoms 1.5 please I need a answer
This is a submod for the the Third Age Total War mod and that is a submod for MTW2/Kingdoms. If your Third Age Total War is working properly, MOS will too.
As for 1.5, it is recommended to update Kingdoms to this version, although I have seen reports that 1.4 would also work. Can't confirm this from own experience though.
I mean for the third age total war can I use kingdoms and not 1.5
Should I have to need older version of MOS for MOS 1.7 I need a answer
"It won't work if your "Third_Age_3" folder is not a sub-folder of the mods folder though. Or if you have renamed the "Third_Age_3 folder to something else."
Here is the problem In the 3.2 Third Age Total War, it was clearly instructed that the mod needed to be renamed into one of the four Kingdoms expansion files, and that is exactly what I did. If this mod won't work if the 3.2 mod has already been renamed then what can I do?
Same problem here
Another way to make it work with steam is:
-install it normally like recommended for non-steam version
-make a copy of your medieval2.exe and rename it into kingdoms.exe
-use the Third Age.bat to start the game
(This worked for me)
Lol, I was just looking through these comments just to notice that all he had to do was to rename his folder back to "Third_Age_3" and then extract the files to that folder. XD scrubs
i rename that folder (before was "teutonics" to make work Third Age 3.2 ) to Third_Age_3
and it works the MOS.
One minor thing I've noticed is that one of the listed requirements for remaking Arnor is still to own Archet, which I think was removed in one of the earlier versions.
You are absolutely right. We removed Archet from the listed requirements and included that little fix in the MOS 1.70 Patch01 which can be downloaded here.
Also, one thing that I found funny: The bios for both Lurtz and Ugluk say that they're first commander of Isengard's armies. Saruman has the Warlord of the White Hand ancillary, which also says he's the first commander of the armies of Isengard.
So Isengard has 3 first commanders, and a lot of confused Uruk-hai.
Yeah, but the Uruk-hai already have a massive identity crisis about who they are and what side they're on, so a little more confusion isn't much of a side trip. lol
You are really observant!
hey i have the mod installed and everything but some of the special settlements are being changed back to normal ones? Will this lead to more problems or am i good to keep playing my campaign. I'm new to your mod and its really good but do i need to like reinstall to fix this ?
It would be pretty cool if OoG could restore the Kingdom of Angmar, the way Eriador can restore Arnor. All of the "Restore the Kingdom of So-and-So" scripts are limited to the good guys it seems. You could even have the Witch-King turn up, similar to Aragorn and Gondor.
reunited Kingdom submod work with 1.7?
Thanks for your Amazing work!

When I start a campaign in 1.7 I dont get any of the scripts. Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Hard to tell from this info. I would advice you to take a look at our main hangout at the TWCenter:
Twcenter.net
What I mean is that it doesnt give me the option to activate the scripts, like Tol Acharns, Immortal Heroes, earlier invasions, etc, etc. None of them. Its like playing vanilla but with more units for me.
it wnt download properly for sum reason......I have tried numerous times but it will not download to were I can install it

There is an alternative download link (MEGA) available there also.

Hey guys, I successfully downloaded both parts, but I typically use utorrent, which does not work when unpacking the files. Winzip makes me want to puke, I literally have no idea how to use it to unpack the files where I want. Is there a download link that does not require winzip? I have the free version, is that a problem? it just leads to a file dead end where I select where I want it and it says file location does not match.
Try 7zip (free) or winrar (free trial).

2a) For non Steam versions of Medieval II Total War Kingdoms: Extract the "MOS Full version 1.70.rar" files to the "mods" folder. In a standard install, you can find it here:
If i've got 2 files, how should i extract the "MOS Full version 1.70.rar" files to the "mods" folder?
I have the "MOS Full version 1.70.rar" 1 and 2 what do i have got to do?
Not sure what the problem is to be honest. You just extract the the two files into the "mods" folder and accept overwrite when asked.
Neither of the Third Age-Steam.bat or the Third Age.bat files work for me to launch the game. Any solutions?
Looks like something is messed up with the install. It's impossible for me to tell what might be wrong from this info.
Should I need to have older version of MOS for MOS 1.7 or this is not nessesry
No older version is necessary, in fact it won't work when installed over an older MOS version. What you need is a clean and working non modded TATW 3.2 install.
Thanks a lot . The third age total war and MOS 1.7 is the best ever .I love the lord of the rings
i extraxt them but nothing happen
just open the third age total wae 3.2 please i need help
what should i do
What exactly did you do?
And did you read the install instructions?
yes i downloud 4 files on the page ; part 1 part 2 and hotfix 1-4 and 05 .i open them and than i extraxt them on the third age3 and than nothing
i extraxt it and it open but when i start a battle game crush please i need help
It says in the install instructions to extract the files in the "mods" folder, not the "Third_Age_3" folder.
I did that and MOS 1.7 open with no problem but when I start thë battle game crush . When I clik on cleaner thë battle start with no problem but when I start another it crash again . What can I do to fix that please help
I'm sorry, but I really have no idea why the game would behave like that. Being able to play a battle after using the cleaner.bat but then crashing after starting another one is something I never heard of before.
how about reinstall it ? will that work ?
