This is the first chapter of the Long Road Home campaign, based on the fan fiction by tvig0r0us. The mission is single player or coop and has been optimized for coop play.
Long Road Home v1-
This package includes:
-Long Road Home campaign mission 1; Flight of Fate
-Long Road Home.docx; Fan fiction(read the story to know what's going on in the mission!!)
-ofpdr-hotkeys.exe; You'll need this to access functions in the game;
-This read me file :)
Installation:
Extract the "Long Road" folder into your "data_win/missions" folder.
The path should look something like this- "Your OFDR game directory/data_win/missions/Long Road"
If you do not have a missions folder in your data_win folder you will have to create one.
To use the hotkeys you will need to place the ofpdr-hotkeys.exe file inside of your main game directory (the same folder as OFDR.exe)
You will need to run this exe as administrator and run the game as administrator for the hotkeys to work properly.
I strongly recommend playing this mission without any ai modifications as it was created using the stock ai and certain elements of the mission rely on stock detection settings to work properly. You WILL have your hands full with stock ai so there is no need to run a mod.
If you installed the mission correctly you will see the campaign "Long Road Home" in your campaign list and the mission "Flight of Fate" will appear in your single misisons list under the "Long Road Home" mission group.
Hotkey assignments:
numpad1- display the radio key if you have obtained it
numpad2- display the missile code if you have obtained it
numpad3- create a checkpoint
Hints:
A word of warning... this mission is huge and encompasses half of the map. Expect to take at least a couple of hours to complete the mission. It is also not easy at all. You have a fair chance to complete the mission, but you have to keep your head in the game.
During the mission you will be presented with several objectives that require you to enter codes into a console. To do this you must do the following:
Reprogramming missiles: There are sam missile arrays in various places on the map that can be reprogrammed to fire on pla helicopters instead of us helicopters. To reprogram them, you must go to the radar. There is a control box on the front right side of the radar, walk up to it. You will recieve a message telling you to press numpad 0 to open the console. Once the console is open you can enter the code. Press numpad + to enter, numpad - to backspace and numpad . to exit the console. If the code is accepted you will recieve a message telling you the missile array has been reprogrammed. Otherwise you will receive a message telling you the code is invalid.
Note: if you are on a laptop and cannot access the numpad +, - and . keys, you can use shift + f11 for -, shift + f12 for + and shift + f10 for .
Radio encryption key: At a point in the mission you will need to go to the radio station and enter the encryption code to communicate with your home base, to do this go to the pad underneath the radio tower, you will be prompted to open the console by pressing numpad 0. Follow the same method as above to enter the code.
Vehicle stealth: You can use PLA vehicles and get some degree of stealth, but if you get too close or drive too fast they will become suspicious and eventually identify you as an enemy... use this ability wisely.
If you haven't already read the fan fiction, please do so. You will find that the entire pretext for the Flight of Fear mission has been laid out in the story.

Thanks to everyone that has supported and stuck with OFDR along the way. It is a great game and is largely under appreciated, but those of us that love it are happy to have others to enjoy it with.

are you going to keep working on "this is war" or this is going to be the future of this mode, something like the 3.0.
The plan is to continue working on this, but incorporate a bigger and better this is war style mission into this with a story line to go along with the bigger war. Development has already been started on the bigger mission and there will also be a smaller one in between to establish a foothold on the island, but right now the scripting aspects of the mission and getting the logistics all worked out is top priority. As it stands there's a long way to go, but I think it will be worth the wait.
Cheers
thanks tvig0r0us and his team
because of you guys, i dont have to waste money for boring singleplayer (i bought the game AFTER the multiplayer got shutdown)
