anyone else getting problems with the campaign with this mod active?

i have version 3.1 active on steam via workshop.

too many fighters at the command station on mission 4 making it unbeatable without haxor?

(i had to haxor just to beat this dam level and i threw everything i could at that massive ball of fighters flak frigates howitzer corvettes raptors you name it)

the drednaught too heavily damaged at the start to the point where it is destroyed before you are even able to react to save it on level 9 due to the battlec ruisers short range missiles?
(special weapon utility kind)

weird OP fish ships on level 9?

level 10 crashing?

(happens when i dock the drednaught to allow the bentusi to fix it or i think its the ark battlecarrier blowing up iduno which or could be something else im not seeing)

is it just me?
or does this version fix all of that perhaps?

also this version needs to be uploaded to the homeworld remastered steam workshop page.

Thank you for all the feedback. I'll look into the problems you reported.

When you encounter crash in campaign, remember to send me your Hw2.log, because there must be some important information stored in there that can be used to fix the bug.

Level 4 does have a massive ball of fighters, but it's not unbeatable. Use some defense field frigates stacked together to lure them away from the command fortress and towards your mothership, then use it plus some gunships upgraded with energy cannon to defeat them. Chances are the vaygr fighter ball is so stacked, they're going to kill half of themselves upon firing the round.

Hi Siliconworm. I've tried to upload the mod but unfortunately the new structure of individual .big files is not supported in the steam workshop It seems that they only support a single .big file with all assets in the archive. I appreciate you will have your own reasons for distributing the way you have but is there any chance you can package a single .big file? certainly 2.8 - 3.1 were packaged in a way that allowed uploading to steam. Really appreciate all your work and there is quite a demand for it on steam workshop. I always refer people back here for assistance and acknowledge you as creator.

Unfortunatelly, it's impossible to go with one single big file with this mod anymore. This mod has become larger than 2GB and Homworld 2 doesn't supoort a big file larger than 2GB. It's the game engine limit, and there's nothing I can do to bypass it. I can compile everything into one big file, but then the game will just crash on start if you try to load it.

The last thing I want to do is to split the big file into multiple files. I already tried to delete all the unnecessary files in the mod and compress it as much as I could, but it's still bigger than 2GB, so this day has finally come...

I don't know why Steam doesn't support multiple big files, but in terms of playing, multiple big files won't affect anything at all. Creating the shortcut for multiple big files might take a little more time, but other than that, everything should be just fine. I don't know how steam Workshop works, but if one single big file is their absolute hard limit, then maybe you can upload the 4 big files (as 4 mods) separately and somehow link them together? This certainly sounds stupid, but if Steam Workshop is that stupid, then this might be your only way to get around the problem...

Hi Siliconworm. Thanks for the explanation and I understand your reasoning. I suppose this was bound to happen eventually and I see other Mods have not been posted in Steam Workshop because their authors felt they could support the mod better through ModDB when faced with similar problems.

Similarly, some Mods have been split and hosted as separate Mods in Steam with instructions on which elements need to be downloaded and run.

I'm reluctant to do the latter with your Mod as I think 4 separate files is going to be hard to manage.Perhaps if you were able to combine a couple of the .big files into Assets.big and Core.big (for example)?

Again, I appreciate that this is putting more work your way and it's probably not what you want.

The last and perhaps easiest solution for everyone would be if I don't put any files in the Steam Workshop but upload an 'empty' Mod with instructions for people to download from here directly.

nicholastones I though of another way: does Steam Workshop support one single exe file? if you put all the big files into one self-extract exe file, maybe the problem can be solved? Have you seen any other mod on Steam using exe instead of big files?

You need WinRAR 5.0 or higher version. It's RAR5 format with 1GB dictionary size.
