Description
This is the lastest progress of Complex Simple. Don't ask why it's so much bigger than the game itself, because you'll find out when you play it. Orz
Homeworld 2 Complex Simple (in BIG form) Installation:
1. Extract ComplexSimple.big into the DATA folder of your Homeworld 2 game folder. For example, D:\Homeworld2\Data
2. Go to Homeworld2\Bin\Release Folder, right click on Homeworld2.exe and create a shortcut. And be sure your Homeworld 2 is already V1.1!
3. Right click the shortcut, and left click Properties, then add " -mod ComplexSimple.big -hardwarecursor -luatrace -determcompplayer" to the end of the existing line in the Target box. For example, D:\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod ComplexSimple.big -hardwarecursor -luatrace -determcompplayer
(Don't forget to click Apply)
****SPECIAL NOTE****
The command line above contains " -determcompplayer", this actually adds to the difficulty of AI players, making them very agile and efficient (typically, their attack groups will march without a rest, and this actually does good when you are playing large maps). If you want to play in a rather soothing pace, don't use this command.
If you want to play in widescreen mode, you can use " -w "and " -h " command. For example, if your screen resolution is 1366*768, you just need to add " -w 1366 -h 768" to the end of the command line. This trick won't change the proportion of 3D rendering, but it does stretch 2D graphics.
4. You can now play this mod via the new shortcut!
And if you have any trouble installing or playing this mod, just tell me, I'll examine the problem and come up with solutions at first time! If it crashes, immediately go to Bin\Release folder and open Hw2.log in NotePad, copy everthing inside and send to me via private message so I can analyze your problem.
Main changes from 2.3:
(HIGHLIGHT) New megaliths from Engineering Bay, to Reinforcement Pad, to Derelict Battleships, all of which are upgradable after capturing and add a lot to the complex way of gaming
(HIGHLIGHT) Every special ability of Turanic Raiders now has three correspondent levels to upgrade, bringing the flexibility of tactical combat experience to an even higher level!
(HIGHLIGHT) Fleet Selector has been simplified to Class Selector together with an integrated Trainer! Yes, you can hack in the game whenever you want and this trainer I programmed is perhaps the most luxury one you will ever have in Homeworld 2! Have fun!
Unique new maps and backgrounds found nowhere else, a subset of which aims to bring an unprecedented combat experience inside the atmosphere, like nothing you have ever seen or even imagined in Homeworld 2!
New units, subsystems, and upgrades
Movie Mode function has been upgraded to the latest one in Complex 8.4.1, and even improved after fixing some bugs
Accolades now can count themselves and display the number of each one when you are receiving them too fast
Kills with special weapons (Viper, Cruise Missile, etc) are now counted in incentive system and give accolades just like normal kills
A critical bug in Music Player (which had been there since Complex Simple 2.1) has been found and fixed, presumably resolving the late-game "unplayable" lag problem. In addition, all the functions that require a lot of computing power and frenetic refreshing rate have been given certain degree of timing flexibility, which means instead of running in a strict timing schedule, all these functions now run in a random schedule adjustable by themselves all the time. The result, presumably should be, even if you experience severe lag, it won't lag that much forever, just wait and it should become better
The locomotion of all ships has been revised, many of which now possess a full spectrum of combat maneuvers, shedding a new light on the unique style and gaming experience of Complex Simple.
Balanced many weapons, some of which were players' request
Enhanced visual and sound effects
More music
Improved AI is better at many aspects, including capturing megaliths and repairing the scaffold (Turanic Raiders)
Some of the major functions in the original Complex mod have been totally reprogrammed to allow ships from different races to be counted in own population

No, I was aware of all kinds of bugs in Complex 8.4.1 and not single one of them was introduced into Complex Simple.
the pirates building time is too long (one squadron of fighters building 3-6 min!)
That's only the start. First, you need to build a Power Plant to produce and store energy to increase your build speed, Assembly Bay (subsystem) on Lord also helps. Meanwhile, you need to build at least 3 Nav Beacons (from my experience of fighting expert CPU players), each one of which can keep spamming mercenary units (very slowly too, that's why you need at least 3 of them). Next, you just manage to survive as long as possible and farm Experience for you productional ships -- because the more experience a ship has, the faster it can build. For example, a Lord or a Nav Beacon with 500 Experience can build several times faster than with 0 Experience! Finally, when you have Black Market, build Slave Auction (subsystem) then you will have many build speed upgrades available. All in all, in the later game you can build just as fast as other races do.

hmm vaygr nuke cannon on mothership dont work.. i build it.. but cannot fire it.. the speciel weapon button is not active..

Vaygr Mothership Nuke Cannon is not a special attack, you just need to point and shoot! Once the target is confirmed, the Mothership will align itself with its target and fire the Nuke Cannon!

So.. is there a map where they fight IN Earth? And what is the difference between Complex and Complex Simple? Because when you simplify it, it must have a smaller size but it is bigger than the complex mod.. What's the difference?
Complex Simple doesn't mean "Complex Simplified", read the description on the homepage. The only thing you need to know is that the DIFFERENCE IS HUGE!
Ok.. So.. Is there an Earth map? If there is, can we land?
In some maps you can capture the Earth, but landing not.
So.. can anyone with a very fast internet share a torrent? I can't download a 1 gb file in 1 day.. ******* Firefox and its plug-ins stop the download at one point.. Or can anyone teach me how to download on this site with Download Accelerator Plus(DAP).. Thank you! OH AND DOWNLOAD SPEED VARY ON DIFFERENT PLACE SO DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT TESTING IT AND THE SPEED IS 1 MB/S.. We live in different places on Earth :).. Thank you very much siliconworm! :D
I have no experience with torrent uploading. You can try some download software that supports continuous transmission at the breakpoint.
Oh, don't bother about that anymore, found out how to use DAP on Firefox.. Now, I'll just to wait for the download to finish.. 2 days 3 hours.. Please let it end fast.. Hope this mod make me satisfied.. Anyway, there's a trainer, right? Is there an Unlimited RU for me and all AIs? And fast build and unlimited units for me and also all AIs? My life really sucks.. Download was 20% yesterday and suddenly stops.. Then I can't resume nor restart it.. Uninstalled DAP, installed IDM, and now its 6 hours left!! :D.. Anyway, thanks for your reply.. I've read the summary and you said you edited the Complex Mod with Notepad.. Does that mean we can also edit Complex Simple Mod with Notepad too?
Oh **** that last comment.. The mod is super cool, super hard and super complicated :D.. I was like in a new different game.. Everything is so hard and new.. Great but the crew and officer limit, if only there's an unlimited cheat, so hard to fight and defend with limited number of everything so my base is spammed with that droid turret thing.. Hundreds of them.. The maps are VERY COOL AND VERY WELL DETAILED.. That sucks though cause I have to delete the mod and uninstall the game now cause I grew bored and the mods.. They are awesome, really but my ****** up computer barely makes it to 20 FPS, super lag man.. Thank you for the mod Siliconworm it was really good especially the hyperspace cheat.. Long Live Complex Simple Mod! Now, I just have to wait for some blessing like a new computer :D.. Thanks!
The reason there're crew and officer limits is exactly what you experienced -- unlimited unit capacity will make the game lag even crash. You can try to play at the lowest capacity settings before getting a new computer.
Anyone with a good connection willing enough to torrent this, it would be so great!! :)

Yeah, it'll be good with torrent.. Goddamn file is too big.. I use Firefox and download suddenly stops on God knows what.. Then I use Firefox DownThemAll manager and it stops.. WTF?! Please split the files or use torrent.. Our internet is not as fast as you guys..

I have this weird hunch that the 'Wing Commander Saga' total conversion for Freespace 2 might have had a hand in making some of those sky environments, but that's only because they made a whole level where you intercept invaders in the clouds to the sound of "March of the Valkyries" as you attack with the help of a squadron called the Valkyries. It's apparently their battle theme.
But you're still awesome.
The maps you are talking about are all made by myself and are my original ideas -- they really don't have anything to do with any other mod or concept art. The only help was from the Internet where I found some useful pictures.

i have a question is it possible to add effects to hw2 ? like bloom, hdr, depth of field and stuff like that ? homeworld 2 would look awesome with post-processing effects.There is an effect modification for most games called the enb series for my knowledge hw2 uses dx9 so it should be possible...

Hello. I am having problems renaming the shortcut, again. I forget how I made it work for the last release. I looked for an update and found homeworld complex and tried that thinking it was the update to this mod. I was dissapointed thinking why were the different races removed and why was it simplified so much. So happy to have found Complex Simple again. Now, to just get it to play !
I have tried cutting and pasting from the included directions as well as from this page and get rejection each time that the name specified in the target box is not correct
create a shortcut from Homeworld2.exe itself, and add the required parameters to the end of the target box, don't touch anything else, and check your spelling, there shouldn't be any problem
Thank you very much. I kept trying to put it inside the quotation marks, works great, and great job !!! Love the new maps and all around seems to play better than the last. I have a couple questions. There are a few maps that simply will not load either it crashes the game or takes several min to load, min again to get the HUD (the latter mainly on maps with lots of asteroids or debris), on some looking into the sun slows the game to almost frozen.I have yet to be able to save a game, it crashes the game. Lastly at times I get these odd geometric shapes either flashing or moving with the game mainly pointed to one ship or another. I've asked friends and some say to update my video card, others say my memory. It's your game so I thought I would ask you. Cant really afford to do either just now, but Ill try for the one you think will help most.

If the game crashes, immediately go to bin\release folder, open Hw2.log (not DumpFile) with NotePad, copy everything inside and send to me via private message. Then I can analyze the problem.
If you see strange things happening, make screenshots and send to me via private message too, together with some basic information of your game settings (which map, is it a new game or a previously saved one loaded again, etc.)
