Breathe new life into a classic! Greatly enhanced graphics for Half-Life Source using a custom ENBSeries configuration and palette texture!
See the demo video! --> Youtube.com
In the video, the effects are being enabled and disabled in real-time for comparison (See details on ENBSeries below). Video also uses amazing textures and models from: Facepunch.com
Many of you are already familiar with the AMAZING ENBSeries mods created by Boris Vorontsov (see Enbdev.com). While his HL2 adaptation has garnered much acclaim, he has not released an official adaptation for the original Half-Life. This mod works with Half-Life: Source from Steam, and may or may not work with other versions...
This package contains a customized configuration of his Vampire Bloodlines adaptation of ENBSeries, and adds a palette texture for additional color correction.
Effects included are:
- Adaptive Bloom
- Adaptive Depth of Field
- SSAO - Screenspace ambient occlusion (ambient soft-shadowing)
- Color correction
- Motion Blur
Usage:
To install, simply extract all five enclosed files to your half-life source folder:
i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\YOURNAME\half-life source
By default the mod will be enabled when the game is started. You will see a red grafitti design in the top left corner of your screen if the mod has loaded correctly. At any time, you can toggle the effects on and off by hitting 'Shift-F12' at any time in the gamr. If your framerate gets hit hard, you can also toggle the SSAO effect by itself by hitting 'Shift-F10'. Alternately, you can manually adjust the SSAO quality settings to improve performance by opening the 'enbseries.ini' file in a text-editor and editing the following lines in the [SSAO] section:
OcclusionQuality=0 <-- Range from 0 to 2, 0 is highest quality, 2 is lowest quality
FilterQuality=0 <-- Range from 0 to 2, 0 is highest quality, 2 is lowest quality
EnableOcclusion=1 <-- setting this to 0 to disable SSAO by default when the mod loads
In fact, all the effect settings are configurable by editing the 'enbseries.ini' document, for details, see Enbdev.com
This is my first upload, let me know what you think.! For me, it makes a WORLD of difference, greater immersion when playing the game :)

i like playing around with enb.
thanks for uploading :)
Ha! Murders my computer, and I can run Oblivion on high (I know it's not that impressive, but its all I've got to game with).
While playing, disable the SSAO by hitting Shift-F10. This will allow all the other effects to remain on, and will boost your framerate by 20-30 FPS.
If you want to try to keep some SSAO, you can edit the following lines in the ENBseries.ini to improve performance at the cost of quality:
OcclusionQuality=0 <-- Range from 0 to 2, 0 is highest quality, 2 is lowest quality
FilterQuality=0 <-- Range from 0 to 2, 0 is highest quality, 2 is lowest quality
EnableOcclusion=1 <-- setting this to 0 to disable SSAO by default when the mod loads
V1.1 should be available for download on Oct 15 (pending admin approval)!
V1.1 has the following upgrades:
- Refined shader settings. In V1.0, the SSAO shadows produced a lot of 'ghosting' and 'bleed' between foreground and background objects. In 1.1 the SSAO is a bit tighter and less overbearing
- Color correction, addressed issues where color correction would result in overly dark or saturated scenes
- Added DX8 converter to allow you to run the game in DX8 mode while still using the DX9-based ENBseries shaders.
"But why on earth would I want to run the game in DX8 mode?" you ask?
Because running in DX8 mode restores the original character and model shadows that are built-in to Half-Life! For some reason, running HL:S in DX9 prevents the default shadows from being rendered. :O ??!
Running in DX8 allows you to have the soft-shadowing from this mod AND the cast-shadows come with the game! Furthermore, I notice NO deterioration in quality when playing in DX8 mode. For evidence.... see the screenshots and videos! ;)
Crashed my game....
What are your system specs? Are you running DRDOverrider while playing?
I'm away from my high spec ocmputer but my laptop has been able to play hl:s without any problems. It could render loads of models. I installed this and started playing and it crashed just as it was loading the menu screen.
Ok. Will need more info on your system to try to diagnose (i.e. Graphics Card, Ram, DX version. This is the first report I've heard of a crash resulting from this mod.
Does the game run ok when you uninstall the mod (remove the mod files from your game folder)?
Works fine. And looks old :P
My direct x version is 9 my ram is 3 gigs.
Do you have a graphics card on your machine (nVidia or ATI)?
Do you have any other programs running that might be conflicting? For example, D3DOverrider conflicts with ENBseries.
You can try to download the new 'Lite' version and see if that works for you.
Let me know, thanks!
It's a laptop. No it doesn't use a dedicated card. And the Lite version does the exact same thing. I mean if there's a setting I need to put on I'd like to know.
Sorry Crazy, the fancy shaders in the mod require a dedicated GPU with support for at least Pixel Shader Model 2.0. Integrated graphics won;t cut it...
...but you should be able to install some hi-res texture packs, no problem. Check FPSBananna...
Hello, I got a problem.
When i use this, some parts of the map including entities appears thought walls, i mean i see parts thought walls.
