Patch #3 is not working for me, I dont know about anyone else, but I tried all the steps to getting it working and I only try to load the core mod with no save game and it still crashes. I hope you can fix this :) Very cool mod!

What error message during the crash are you experiencing?

If you're getting a generic "FUEL has stopped working message" (this occurred during testing once or twice) then this is a result of the game presumably caching files somewhere, and it conflicting with the mod. Once the error occurs, the cached parameters seem to get removed, and then replaced by the correct new mod files automatically. So if you just pick the mods you want, then keep starting the game up after this crash it will eventually work, even if it takes five or so restarts etc.

Maybe if starting from a fresh install of FUEL this wouldn't happen, but not something I've tested. Its a weird bug, but I see no way to work round it other than tediously restarting the game a few times lol

Ok, I will try that, I restarted it a couple times, but a few more cant hurt. It is the generic message, but it is after the game is booted and it tries to auto load the saved game, and it doesnt work with or without and saved game present.

Whether the saved game is present or not shouldn't make a difference with this error, as it is to do with the parameters and not already saved progression. While it says the saved-game is being loaded, it is also loading up the parameters for vehicles and a few other files at that stage.

I'll look into improving it (if I can) for a later patch/update, but the game will eventually start after some restarts (the more conflicting paramaters, the longer it will take). You might want to use the "optional mod - shader compile [OFF]" mod as it will decrease the loading time considerably. I will try and put together an optional mod with stock vehicle parameters for anyone experiencing this issue.

BTW which version of the mod are you upgrading from? How many versions of FUEL: REFUELED have you had installed? - i.e. did you start with V15.4 and use both patches, or use earlier versions of the mod (V15.3 etc.)? Not that it matters, but it would be useful for me in debugging as I could replicate the error your getting...

Well I had the exact same problem, though I never bothered trying to restart it more than once or twice. In fact, I installed your patch, and at the same time played around with some nvidia inspector params, AND the game had crashed the last time it was open. I had no clue what the problem was so I just did a clean install of the game, installed the 15.4, WENT STRAIGHT to patch 3 and it still crashed, so I just went back to patch 2. I will now try the restarting a few times trick.

By the way, the shader compiler [OFF] mod makes the game crash too, in the exact same place (i.e. the save-game loaded stage). Also, when I installed the second patch, and also when I reinstalled it, and also also from time to time still, the game sometimes reports, in a weird language (I think spanish perhaps), via a window outside the game, that there is a problem with the vehicles. I click Ok about 5 times, it may happen again and then the game runs fine.

Something is screwed up with my save-game file I think for the last two problems. Any ideas?

(I am on Steam ATM btw)

I tried restarting about 10 times without changing any of the mods, but no luck. I started with 15.4 and then updated to 15.4 patch 1, and then to patch 2, and just recently patch 3. I also deleted the mod completely from the FUEL folder, reinstalled all the mods in order and still no success. I have installed all the updates in order and cant think of anything else that could cause this problem. Any ideas? Thank you.

If it doesn't work, then not much I can suggest really. Early on I just restarted the game many times and it went away, but it seems to be a bigger problem than I had expected.

I'm working on a Patch#4 now, I've removed around 5000+ lines of excess code, as I've considered it may be putting excessive load upon the game console as Patch#3 has thousands more files than Patch#2. I'll get an updated patch compiled later today and start testing from there - if I see improvement then I'll put it up for download.

Update:

I'm aware of the issue where Patch#3 doesn't work for a number of users, I'm working on Patch#4 now which will hopefully fix this problem.

To my knowledge I believe the problem is caused by an overload of the in-game console, the next patch will be optimized to hopefully resolve this issue.

There is a hotfix available in this thread here: Moddb.com

Follow the instructions and let me know if it fixed it for you or not. I should have Patch #4 out in a week or so, in the mean time, reverting to patch #2 will make the game playable with the mod.

Just checking, but did you install the base mod v15.4 prior to this download?

If you continue to have issues let me know.

OK, sorry for being so "zip" ununderstanding, did as follows.

Downloaded the zip files.

Followed instuctions in tutorial for 15.2 installation.(only one there)

In the FUEL installed directory, now have:

Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\

Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4_PATCH_#3\

Games\FUEL\JSGME.exe (is not there)

ALSO the above directories have mulitple sub-directories.

Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL - English\
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL - Français\
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL Demo - English\
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL Demo - Français\
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL REFUELED - Development Tools\

and

Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4_PATCH_#3\FUEL\
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4_PATCH_#3\FUEL Demo\

now, in the Fuel - English directory there are these:

Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL - English\FUEL_REFUELED\
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL - English\MODS\
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL - English\JSGME.exe
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL - English\JSGME.lng
Games\FUEL\FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4\FUEL - English\JSGMEReadme.txt

Notice the final "FUEL" MOD sub-directories are different.
FUEL_REFUELED vs FUEL (which is correct? Don't want to mess up game.)

For those of us that follow "install instuctions as given" and are not so computer savy as to where to put things.
PLease Help / Update instructions?

Thanks, from all us non-programmer installers

There is a step-by-step installation video included in the description for V15.4. Link to video: Moddb.com

Ok so download the base V15.4 here: Moddb.com.

Open the zip file.
Open "FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4"
Open "FUEL - English"
Copy the contents to your FUEL directory.
JSGME.exe should be present?

Then download this patch here: Moddb.com

Open the zip file.
Open "FUEL_REFUELED_V15_4_PATCH_#3"
Open "FUEL"
Copy the contents to your FUEL directory.

Click on JSGME.exe and activate/install from there.

Write back if still stuck (If I take a while to reply via comment then by all means PM me).

-----------

Also I have just uploaded a newer version of the mod, it can be found here: Moddb.com (Hasn't gone live yet as I'm writing this, but will do sometime today when moddb authorizes it). If you continue to have trouble then try this version (It's greatly improved anyway).

I will be writing a new installation tutorial for this release and try and make another video to accompany it (will probably go live over next day or so depending on when I finish and upload it).
