If you're using windows 8, you'll need the Live disable mod still

Yes that's good to mention, thanks. The Live disable mod is a good add-on. Usually it's not an issue with the GOTY edition , but it does seem to be needed with the standard edition, but I think it's for all versions of Windows that it happens on. However, if you use FOSE it disables it.

Thanks for the comment:D

Just to add if you mean GFWL is not installed error that some get, just goto your game folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty\GFWLive and run the setup file for it from there.

I have downloaded the patch following the video, but for some reason when I go to launch the game I get an error message that reads, The ordinal 42 could not be located in the dynamic link library? any help would be awesome.

That's the winlive error copy and paste this link in your browser to download it, then just install.

gfwl.xboxlive.com/content/gfwl-public/redists/production/xliveredist.msi

If you have GOTY its in the game folder too, here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty\GFWLive and run the setup file for it from there.

I'm getting the "Application load error 3:0000065432".
When I try to load from Steam instead, I get "Error Code 51".
I was sure that I'd followed all the instructions properly, but maybe not. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you attempted a reboot, sometimes you need to reboot for the changes to take properly or the game may crash on start-up. As well you may need to verify your game cache. Error code 51, I'm pretty sure is a game cache reference. (You may need to re-apply the fix after verifying)

I've rebooted and it's working great.
I't strange because I'd already restarted the PC 2 or 3 times before, but it didn't fix the problem.
I'm up and running now, thanks for the help..!

Fallout 3 is running smoothly, so I'm very grateful. I've also discovered today why it stopped working originally too. I tried adding an ENB into the main folder and when I tried to start the game, it CTD'd. I removed d3d9.dll from the folder and the game worked again. Do you know what the problem could be and why Fallout 3 won't accept d3d9.dll?

The ENB can cause problems for some, usually to fix the problem you would use an alternate d3d9 (usually the generic as a replacement). Enbdev.com Take it from the wrapper folder.

Hi,

The xlive.dll, that's the winlive error. You need the pre-install for the winlive to winmarketplace update. Check the description notes above. It's the link under the pre-install notes at the top of the description.
The inject dll, that maybe the enb and sweetfx, if you don't have the dx9 final release installed that maybe caused by that. Install the dx9 final release from the link also on the description and install that also. After doing both restart your PC for the new settings to take effect and it should then work fine.

Done everything you said before you even said it. I have looked it up and its something to do with live not running on my pc. I don't know why though. Been through so many patches it is unbelievable. Better off playing New Vegas.

It should only need the winlive to winmarketplace update. This is the proper one Go.microsoft.com
It upgrades winlive to winmarketplace and installs the xlive files.
There will be no winlive after, it will all be updated to marketplace. After that, restart the system and the xlive error should be gone.
The GoG versions have had the xlive association completely removed and have been updated past the steam ones if you look into those.

Is it possible to run the patch on windows 10 with the GFWL disabler? I've done everything in the video and the game still crashes. I have the GOTY version on Steam btw.

Hi, just a couple things to check, if that's ok?

Make sure you did a full restart of you computer for everything to apply properly.

Also if you added the enb d3d9.dll remove it to verify that's not the issue.

If you have an intel graphics use this instead of the enb
Nexusmods.com?

Also, be sure to have run it normally and set it through the game launcher running the game and verifying it's running properly before running it from the patched script extender.

You shouldn't need the disabler if you installed the winlive to winmarketplace update here
Go.microsoft.com
That fixes the xlive.dll error.

Also make sure to run the game normally, no admin or compatibility setting.

Get back to me, thx.

seems like I made a mistake when it came to the Intel graphics part. The game seems to run smoothly.

Thanks for your help, you're doing God's work.

Rather annoyingly, this kinda mostly made fallout 3 totally unusable, and I had to re-download it. Help?

Did you use anything else also, or just this? This alone normally shouldn't make it unstable, but rather more stable.
