Any chance we will be getting it ported to Lost Alpha? Or at least just suit visors?

Even better, the night vision scopes ! A future port of features like these might contribute to the possibility of LA versions (even if just spiritual successors) of other mods like ZoA !

Reflective surfaces in LA would be heartbreaking for me. LA already has wet surfaces, so seeing reflections on asphalt would be so amazing

I'll try this as soon as I get home from work; about Lost Alpha compatibility... I think that mod/stand alone game still needs some polishment and some patches before we could try anything with it, as with every other Stalker title.

Fo' sho. It's quite rough around the edges, but it's obvious there is a wonderful game at the heart of LA.

That's true. I'd advise you to wait a bit more, before starting any work with our shaders... as they're a subject to change ;)

I probably won't have the time to port Dynamic Shaders to Lost Alpha myself, but of course anyone who would like to is free to do it. Please just don't forget about the credits.

I did a dirty merge to lost alpha, I edited the script files and make it to recall the functions. However, it doesn't work because when it launches, it said my video card doesn't meet the requirement. I have a GTX680 and I am sure that's not a problem. I think there's some problem with the r2 folder

Just find out the problem is related to shadersettings.txt, but I am not sure where in the document

Did you realllly expect it to work in Lost Alpha? LA has a highly modified renderer, not to mention different scripts from SoC....

I am not expecting it to work perfectly, but if they are built on the same base and structure, there's always a way ;)

I have replied to your question on the main page, but for reference will copy my answer here:

The error message you are getting says virtually nothing other than "something has gone wrong with your shaders". Actually it's in most cases not a hardware issue but some syntax or other error in your (merged) shader files. Check if you got some error message in your X-Ray log file, there it should say something about what went wrong and/or where.

LA is using modified Call of Pripyat render if I generalaze it.

So if anyone would try to port this to LA, it is not just soc render to deal with =)

Thanks for that info.

I was under the impression that there are only a few features in DS 1.2 making sense to port to LA anyway. Why wasting time trying to port god rays which LA already has? Pointless. Same goes with the lighting improvements I guess.

What could make sense to port are the visor reflections and the rainbows (and with DS 2.0 maybe the wet surface reflections among a few other new features).

Exactly =)Question is if that really means less work, also how would reflective surfraces react with DX10 rain splashes...

Either way,It would be interesting to see one day your shaders in LA =)

the rghost.net link that contains the hotfix for the 1.2 beta doesn't work for me. Any help would be appreciated.

I've just checked. The link is still online and enabled. Never heard of issues with rghost downloads. What exactly does not work in your case? Does the download start or not? What browser and version are you using?

Anyway, if your problems persist you may just wait a few days until I manage to release the first patch for the beta which contains the mentioned hotfix as well, so the rghost download will become obsolete by that time.

I'm using google chrome, but have tried on internet explorer and received the same error. It won't connect to that site at all. I'm not tech savvy so I can't really go into further detail. It just says "oops! couldn't connect to blah blah blah. Access a cached copy" which doesn't work either. This also pops up: "This is Google's cache of Rghost.net. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on May 13, 2014 07:34:39 GMT. The current page could have changed in the meantime. Learn more
Tip: To quickly find your search term on this page, press Ctrl+F or ⌘-F (Mac) and use the find bar."
It's like it thinks the site doesn't exist. Thanks for the response.

Uhm, I really don't know what's going on in your system. Such issues have never been reported so far.

I'm sorry but at the moment the best advise I can give you is either try it again on a different PC and/or browser, or wait a couple of days until I'll be able to release the full patch here on moddb.

Lens flares are the result of internal reflections in multi-element lenses, the number of reflections is a function of the number of elements. The history of lens design has largely aimed at removing them using coatings and special glass. The only place one would expect to see anything like this in the STALKER series is through binoculars or telescopic sights.
As every modder now includes your unmotivated lens flare effect, could you please provide simple and clear instructions on how I can disable it?

I am well aware of the physical causes of the formation of lens flares and other (normally unintended, as you say correctly) optical artifacts. But that does not mean that such a graphical effect is absolutely unwanted unless realistic in a video game. Many people like and request such effects today, even if unrealistic. How can you say that any of my effects is unmotivated?

Anyways, Dynamic Shaders 1.2, or any previous version, does not contain any sort of lens flare. Sun shafts, visor reflections and refractions, and other effects. But no lens flares so far. Nor does "every modder" use my mod, or if he does, include all my features together.

Furthermore, virtually all my settings have comments describing their usage, so disabling any of the effects is really simple if you just read those comments.

So sorry, I really don't understand what you mean.

Thanks so much for this man! Is there anything i can do to improve framerate? I have a relatively powerful rig but it seems to bog down with sunshafts...

First disable sun shafts to check whether your FPS trouble comes from those. Then, if so, lower the samples count as it's the hugest framerate killer of all sun shafts settings. Note that you need to adjust (increase) exposure values accordingly to get the same effect intensity as before. There are a few other settings causing noticeable FPS impact as well, see the comments to the particular settings in the different config files.
