Description

New version 1.10 (no installer, just a zip file: unpack to the mods folder): - A lot of new Art and sounds (thanks to Deliverator); - Mahdi will auto-spread to newly built cities; - A city can only lose a maximum of 4 pts of water from Waterstealers, so that the Raging Barbarians option is playable at the higher levels and with big maps; - The goal of the Water Fat Victory now scales with the map size; - The duration of promotions with such a feature now scales with the game speed; - City maintenance and research cost slightly diminished; - Adapted and inserted in the new 4.17b Worldbuilder from Platy (civfanatics); - various other minor tweaks.

Hey there Duneman, you work on this modmod is amazing and I can't stop starting new campaigns and trying out the new things.
Could you tell us or post somewhere the changes between 1.05 and 1.06 versions?
Thanks in advance.

On CivFanatics forum, it was announced that 1.06 was all Deliverator's new art work.

Correction: 1.05 -> 1.06 was some small gameplay changes. 1.10 includes gameplay changes as well as new art, sound and music as described in the notes above. :)

Could I safely unzip this on top of old files? I mean is it going to conflict this way or not?
On a side note I think this is best dune game ever made. With Emperor been close second. :)

You must delete the old version, or at least the art folder, because the new art files are now packed.
Thanks!

Awesome to see the mod still being worked on. One of the best.

I got a question however. Not sure if this is the right place. But when I tried Ordos and tried to hire mercs from the homeworld they did not come with the special promotion. Or is that not how the Ordos "Mercenary Vultures" is meant to work?

Only the hired vehicles start with that promotion. The civilization pedia also clarifies that sort of stuff.
Thanks!

Ahh... Found it now. Thanks. I must have missed the Vehicle part. Do not hire that many Vehicles ether. (Not for a lack of trying. Tend to get other units to select from.)

Can I just say the Mahdi and their free troops are OP as hell!

Well, they are more expensive here than the ones in the original Dune Wars, actually. I may consider those guys again, but honestly, with the right combination of units, the Mahdi are just free xp.
Anyway, there's a lot of stuff that at huge proportions will be unbalanced: that's just the way the game works. You have to be big enough to survive and throw one unbalanced thing against the other.
At the lower difficulty levels, the AI does not do miracles handling that kind of stuff, of course.

Hi.

This mod looks really interesting & I really want to play it.

I've scoured the internet looking for how to install Civ IV mods, but to no avail.

Can somebody tell me how to install this mod, please?

Thanks.

Simply unzip the contents directly into your "Beyond the Sword/Mods" folder, start Civ IV, hit Advanced, hit Load a Mod, select the mod's name, and there you go!

Does this mod need any Civ IV patches to run? Every time I start up the mod it crashes to desktop, regardless if I use the shortcut or start it up manually in the Advanced tab. I've pasted it in this location: C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Mods

Make sure you have the 3.19 patch for Beyond the Sword and everything properly installed.

The 3.19 patch fixed it, looks like it runs now.

Absolutely perfect mod, save for one thing: I created a map with the worldbuilder, but once I saved it, it couldn't neither be loaded in the worldbuilder nor as a scenario.I managed to get old Dune Wars maps from Civfanatics and those work just fine, but once I save them with the ingame worldbuilder, they cannot be loaded anymore.Whereas both Platy's worldbuilder as a standalone and the standard Civ IV worldbuilder worked fine by me.

Yeah, I'll have to check that next time. Not sure what is going on there. Anyway, you should just use the maps that come with this mod: they are a little bit better and all their options work properly.
Thanks!

Hi I installed patch 3.19 but there's still a loading error. There is a black screen and the game doesn't start up.

Is there a solution to this?

Thanks in advance.

Have you definitely placed the mod folder within Program Files and the Beyond the Sword directory?

This mod looks fantastic, although I am having trouble getting it to show up in the mods menu of my steam version of BtS on Mac. Is this a compatibility issue?

Unfortunately no Civ IV that modify the core game DLL work on Mac. Some people run Windows on their Mac using Boot Camp to get around this.

I have a strange issue... I've just installed it and I can't see any words in the menu. I've installed all the patches, so any ideas?

Thanks for all. I'm excited to play what it looks a good game of Dune.

Well, what do you mean when you say that you've installed all the patches?: you only need the 3.19 patch for Beyond the Sword.
I can only suggest installing everything from scratch: if everything is properly installed, it should work easily. But computers are strange buggers sometimes, aren't they?

You need to switch to english language in options. And sometimes civ decides to switch language backrandomly to your native language, hence the text disappearing
