Good idea ;)
Nice job.
Thanks for all the comments - seemed a shame not to, really!
great soundtrack
Beautiful soundtrack. Really touching.
The soundtrack is amazing...does anyone know where I can find some more of her work? Her website is currently down. Heck, I'd buy an album that sounded like this.
Site should be back up in a week or so. I've talked to Jessica and there should be some more streaming tracks out of it once it's re-built.
Driftspace in a Foglit Landscape..... really haunting imagery and music. The Island, always calling. Thank you.!
great work! thanks!

This gets the award for coolest comment so far. I b dis dawg, fk yh!
I love the soundtrack, but there are only seven files in the archive. Why was Ascension removed?
Hi there,
Don't know where Ascension has disappeared to- apologies for that. Will re-upload tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy,
Jessica Curry
My fault actually. Going to repackage the entire audio along with art and other bits and pieces for the redevelopment release. In the meantime, check Jessica's website for lots more audio work - particularly the Caspar Helendale requiem for Second Life: www.jessicacurry.co.uk
Created an account purely to gush about Dear Esther.
It's magnificent, it really is. Single handedly restored my faith in a medium that I was becoming increasingly jaded by. A medium still so awkward and adolescent, that a hack like Hideo Kojima can literally wank in all our faces for 8 hours of cutscenes and be hailed as the Kubrick of interactive entertainment.
It's not perfect by any stretch, but the imperfections almost make it even better. The worst design decisions are all at the very start, but when viewed in context it almost feels like it was intentional, a metaphor for how tough the start of any journey worth taking is. Maybe even a test to weed out the impatient, ADD riddled Counter Strike kids who would have the audacity to give protips on how to shorten the experience.
I loved it all. I loved the pacing, I loved the framing of landscapes, I loved the script, I loved the music, I loved the narration, I loved the sick feeling I got in my stomach whenever I thought I caught a glimpse of someone in the distance, I loved the desolace, the isolation, the impending sense of panic, I love the fact that most comments on here refer to stuff I didn't even see, I loved that it had all the hallmarks of a great linear piece of fiction, yet two people could independently experience different things altogether, I just loved the whole thing.
Mark my words, in 25 years when people accept this medium for the great things it is capable of doing, when you see game critics on grown up mainstream TV programs doing retrospectives of where it all started, when the proper Kubricks and Spielbergs of the medium are interviewed about what made them get into making art, they'll all cite Dear Esther. Even if they didn't actually download it the first time round, they'll pretend so as not so sound uncultured.
So yeah, I just wanted to say all that before any of the above happens and you're too famous and busy to read my thoughts. You're an inspiration!
For some reason when I open this with WinRAR I find the files and when I click one them, it just gives me a window with weird symbols on it. And when I put the soundtrack in my documents, when I click the tracks it gives me a window that says, "Windows Explorer could not open this file." Please help!
It may be because they were originally encoded for Mac, although we haven't had reports of this before. You can find more heavily compressed versions in the /sound folder of the mod. At the moment, the plan is to remaster the tracks at some point in the future and perhaps look to put these new versions on iTunes.
hey where do i extract these files to?
tell me if im an idiot
Why does Jessica Curry's website redirect to wikepedia on the HTTP protocol?
Windows media and Creative media cant play it :/
I love the sound track, thanks.
I think this is an absolutely wonderful soundtrack that couldn't go more perfectly with the game. Thanks for this download~*~*~!
I love this so much.
At the risk of sounding completely ignorant, is there a version of the Esther track as played in the trailer (ie. with orchestral accompaniment) available anywhere?
