This script gives you the possibility to export static models from Blender 2.49 to The Witcher 1 .MDL format.
Pre-installation requirements:
- Python 2.6
When Blender starts it says which version of Python it needs.
Download the appropriate version - e.g Python 2.6.7 for Blender 2.49b. You should see the message at the start of Blender: "Checking for installed Python... got it!"
Installation:
Unzip the export script to Blender's script path, the path is usually as follows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts (Windows Vista/7)
or
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts
(Windows XP)
Usage:
Create your model, center the model and save it. Add Empty to your Scene, name it the same as your Blender file.
Choose: File - Export – .mdl exporter from the Blender Main Menu, and export options will pop up within Blender's Scripts Window. Click Static Object, then click Export.
The .MDL file will appear in your .blender folder. Now copy the .MDL file to the Witcher/Data folder, open D'jinni adventure editor, open your module and import the .mdl file. Done.
Read the Readme included in the .zip file for additional usage tips.
The exporter was written for Blender 2.49b in Python 2.6.
Changelog:
version 0.1.0 June 2011

version 0.0.9 January 2011

Happy modelling!

Wow! That's quite an achievement. Kudos, congratulations, and felicitations! What a lot of effort you've put into this, and working half in the dark, too.
I've never used The Blender, and I hear that it has a rather steep learning curve, but the idea of having new placeables is rather enticing, so maybe I'll give it a whirl.
Thank you so much for sharing this!
Thanks for your nice comments.
I hope that this little export script, though a bit limited in its functions, will be of use to Witcher modders.
