Installation
Using a tool like 7-Zip, extract the provided archive to the following directory:
\steamapps\common\Quake 2
Launch the game using Berserker.exe or one of the provided batch files.
Playing Ground Zero or The Reckoning
To Play Ground Zero: Launch the game using the provided "Ground Zero.bat" script.
To Play The Reckoning: Launch the game using the provided "The Reckoning.bat" script.
Alternatively: Create a shortcut to your "Berserker.exe" file with the launch parameters "+set net_compatibility 1" and "+set game rogue" (for Ground Zero) or "+set game xatrix" (for The Reckoning).
F.A.Q.
Q: When playing Ground Zero or The Reckoning expansion content, enemies and/or movable entities such as elevators are missing.
A: Starting a local server through the Singleplayer menu is not currently supported for the mission packs. You must start a game using Multiplayer -> Start Rogue Server or Multiplayer -> Start Xatrix Server. You can save and load games using the "sv_save" and "sv_load" commands.
If you don't see the appropriate option in the multiplayer menu, make sure that you launched the game properly using either the provided batch scripts or with the proper launch arguments detailed above. If you are still experiencing issues, feel free to ask for help in the comments.
Q: Weapons seem to fire faster and rockets move more quickly than I remember.
A: The mod increases weapon re-fire rate and rocket speed by default. This is to speed up multiplayer matches, but can throw off the balance of single-player. To disable this, you may change the settings located under Game -> Options -> Game Flags -> Haste Mode / Fast Rockets.
Q: What are these flying cubes and why are they shooting dead bodies? Why are there invisible enemies stalking me? Why are enemies re-spawning?
A: Each of these behaviors, plus a great deal more options, may be modified under the Game -> Options menu.
Q: The HUD is too big / too small!
A: Settings related to the HUD can be found under Video -> On Screen Info in the main menu.
Q: My screen resolution is not listed in the video options menu.
A: The available screen resolutions may be altered by editing the 'modelist.txt' file, which may be found in the same directory as the 'Berserker.exe' executable file. Simply replace one of the custom mode resolutions with your desired resolution and you will find that resolution listed in the video options menu.
Disclaimers
The provided archive has been modified from it's original version. It is based on the Version 1.44 archive, with the Version 1.45 patch applied and a couple of tiny optional batch scripts I wrote to simplify launching the mission packs added.
I am not affiliated with the author of the mod in any way; I'm just some nerd on the internet.
Use this mod at your own risk.
If you experience any issues feel free to inquire in the comments. The latest version may always be found at Berserker@Quake2.
excuse me, When I try to play a new game on any difficulty, I get on the loading screen the following: Error Could load maps / base1.bsb
Lei in comments to change the file name to pak.pak pak0.pak, the problem is that I find the files, baseq2
some solution to load the map?
You must have the game to load this mod withour errors.
Quake2 PAK0.PAK file copy to MOD BaseQ2 directory !
You will play this mod
thank you for making this pack for us!
Some of the enemies are transparent as if their textures and skins haven't loaded properly. Anyone else have these issues?
it isn't an issue, these transparent enemies are called in the game "predators", you can configure this in the game
I'm having the same issue. Were you able to get it resolved?
This isn't obvious but when you make a new game go to the options menu within the game menu and slide the slider for predators all the way down then select your difficulty to start the game. To make that clear there are two options menus! one in the main menu and one in the game menu!
Hello!
Is it compatible with Lazarus mod?
It doesn't work with the Quad Damage Gog version. It opens the console and says "Server was killed" and it keeps repeating "creating DS buffers ... using secondary sound buffer" over and over again.
HELP
Given the nature of your issue, I believe your best option may be to contact the author of the mod directly. The place to do this would probably be through the Quakegate forums located here Quakegate.ru.
If you choose to pursue this option, please be courteous and bear in mind the massive language barrier that likely exists between you.

Does anyone know how to properly configure the video resolution?
So far the old set r_customwidth , set r_customheigh, set r_mode -1 and vid_restart is not working properly. After that it launches a window instead of fullscreen (although fullscreen is enabled) and the resolution is not correct.
My monitor/tv is 1366x768. and when i use this Berserk mod, it just resets it to 1024x768.
Also in options video menu, the widescreen resolution is not listed in the options.
Any help?
Apologies for the delay; there is no in-game support for custom resolutions. Instead, you may specify your resolution by editing the 'modelist.txt' file.
Please see the mod description for further details on this.
Right now i'm midway through my first time playing this game. Should i go through the rest with the default stuff for the authenticity or should i get this mod and go through the rest?
Am I the only one that cant walk straight? player moves ever so slightly to the left as you walk. Any way to fix this?
Awesome stuff, just one little problem for me, everything works fine, except explosions are inverted, that is to say, I see black squares around the explosions, also the same with the railgun? I am a nooby so.... I am thinking it is something to do with "Alpha channels" ?
If anyone knows how to rectify this, I'd sure be appreciative guys.
I should point out here that i have Intel HD graphics card poop compared to the old Nvidia I had, that would have ran no probs :(

I have two questions:
1. How do I properly install the mod to the Quake 2 game once I have it downloaded and extracted? I tried running it from it's own folder and it couldn't load the single player game and it appeared a bunch of textures were missing.
2. When I exited the Berserker application, it seemed like there was a brown tint to my monitor that wasn't there before. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I think You need give him paks from original q2. I've just put whole Berserker to quake2 folder and everything is fine.
Hello Everyone
Really hate to ask, but - how can I load map from pak file? I mean vanilla q2 loads it, but not Berserker... It seems I'm stuck in the past with those quakie things;].
Mod is great. Graphics are - ehrm - shiny, but that sliders for mob respawn/predators/cubes... that's hell'o'proper'grindin'waaagh!
Thank You Very Much.
ps. Yes, yes, googled for answer, but can't find!
is there anyway to adjust the hud so your weapons arent these tiny things off to the right?

It seems like half of the game flag options don't apply when you start a new game or try to change them mid game
