Description

This is the AdvancedAIMod0.98 /by Lion & r42/, updated and improved by AEI /version 2.8/. The aim of the mod and my improvements is to create the greatest AI available for ZH. There are a lot of new fixes and improvements added by me, and the AI will use more humanlike tactics as well. This mod was also made because the AI in ZH is too easy. It uses stupid tactics, builds mediocre bases and normally has $50k in bank that it will never use. Beating 7 AIs on hard shouldnt be possible but it is, this mod is to change that, giving the AI a better tactical awareness, faster expansion, more viciousness and better economy management.

I think it's completely unreasonable and unrealistic for people to ask you to develop this mod for other mods. But i suppose it should be seen as a compliment really, since this ai is so good people want to use it with other mods.

Is this mod mainly meant for 1v1 matches? I prefer 3v3 games. Is the ai the same no matter how many players?

p.s., funny how you should post an update to this mod yesterday. I installed zero hour again yesterday and found your mod today updated! I must have sensed it was coming...

Oh, i absolutely understand that. It will be great to see this ported in other mods.

Mod is the same for 1v1 or 3v3.

And that's funny coincidence, i guess fate wants you to play Zero Hour with this mod.

The only worthy mod thats to be worked within is RotR, thats all. Wish the creator would have much more time then it would be da bomb definitly.

The only mod that gives me good AI is my mod, that's why i continue to develop it for me and my friends.

I also do it for the multiplayer community, that mostly plays vanilla ZH 1.04 and 1.06, these people like to play vs good AI, that reminds them of human online opponents.

I know this is kind of pathetic but Ive never installed a mod except through steam where it's automatically done.. So what exactly do I have to do for this mod to work? I download it from here then what?

First, is your Generals ZH patched to 1.04? Because the mod is for that patch.
Second, you should find you Generals Zero Hour directory in Steam and replace your INI folder and SkirmishScripts.scb file with those from the mod.

Also back up those files before replacing them, you will need them later if you want to remove the mod and return the game to vanilla.

You will know if the mod is installed in the first several minutes. Watch for early rushes/surprize attacks.

when i want to get back to my orignal game i need to replace the orginal files but my orginal file the ini directory is emptry is this should be like this way

Yes, i think it should be like that. The original ini files, when they are not unpacked by modders into an INI folder, are packed in one file - INIZH.big. The folder overwrites the packed files. So when you put the mods ini folder it will be loaded by the game instead of the original ini files, that i said are packed in INIZH.big

Now, why did i say to most people to replace their ini folder files? Because most people here used mods and the folder already contains some files from mods. But if you used the vanilla game, then yes, the ini folder should be empty, and the game should be directly loading the original INI files packed in the INIZH.big file. So basically just put the empty ini folder you saved back into the data folder.

Since the folder is empty, it means that the game will directly load the original ini files packed in INIZH.big.

That's it.

@AEI I want to express my compliments on your work of this mod :), avoid who ask to make it compatible for the other mods too, people don't understand the hard work behind and can be so bad working for different goals/ other modders too that don't have anything with you. This mod keep me to play at this game :). Keep good your work. If one time you need help to edit units etc. feel free to ask ^.^
I may ask one question: for you is better to play with 1.04 or 1.06?

Personally i play with 1.04, but there are people who prefer the 1.06 patch as it balances the game and makes all sides more equal. Uber units are also made weaker.

For example in 1.06 , the ambulance doesn't heal humvees, snipers are nerfed, etc.

Well, i'm busy with other things these days, not working on the mod.

You can try playing vs 2 or more opponents, if you want more enemy units.

I think your mod is great, it actually helped me when I had an IA friendly, I actually got air support... lol, but I do agree with the post about it being able to be added to ROTR, if I had the know how I would help, I build things of all kinds so I understand it takes time and is a pain sometimes to do it alone, but for what its worth its still a Dm good job you did.

PS: I have heard rumors people get paid to make game mods and to help game makers find inventive ways to make there games a challenge.

Hi Angel, just finished playing a 3v3 skirmish and noticed a few things you might want to take note of should you release an update to this mod.

The ai doesnt seem to sell their buildings when you are capturing them. I just captured almost the whole enemy base with rebels, and the ai didn't sell anything to stop the capture.

I noticed at the very start of a game, my gla allies produced about 3 or 4 workers before they started building anything. Sometimes they seem to build straight away with the first worker, but there were several times when they delayed starting construction until several workers had been produced.

I have noticed the ai makes good use of superpowers. The usa laser gen was using particle cannon on large groups of units i had laying around. Although sometimes the china ai nukes empty spaces or misses buildings.

The usa ai seems to be the best. I wonder if more time has been devoted to making the usa ai better? the laser gen and airforce gen are very challenging...

Overall great work, this ai is slowly becoming more human like and we have you to thank for that! Great fun!

I've got my *** handed to me four times before I actually managed to win a game, and even then I got pretty much carried by my laser general ally. It really keeps you engaged much more than the vanilla game, I'm loving it.

I initially improved this AI for myself, but since i enjoyed it a lot, i decided to go public and make many other people happy too, instead of just forgetting about it and burrying it somewhere.

This was my motivation behing setting this mod page up. Making other people happy the way i was happy with this mod.

I thought I could play this game until I installed this mod.

Just tried 1v1 China infantry vs Stealth GLA. The AI wiped the floor with me in 10 minutes.

The game should be patched to 1.04 or 1.06

To install, backup your INI folder and SkirmishScripts.scb file, then replace them with those from the mod.

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Data\INI

Thats really strange.

It is a rar folder. Never heard about such a problem before. There are no exe files inside. Those are the game files i and many others use.

It could be a false positive, i checked their pages and people had other similar problems with Firefox as well. Apparently they use data from Google's "Safe Browsing" project to assess the reputation of websites and downloads.

When i use virustotal to check the file, it uses 50 different antivirus programs to scan files, and it does not find any problems.

You can tell Firefox to allow the download to proceed.

I will send a message to Mozilla and ask them what is going on. Lets hope that they will fix the problem.

Question... What difference does it make if i delete the multiplayer SCB and script file from the Scripts folders.. leaving only your Skrirmish.scb

hi, I still play this game, an I dont find any interesting one, hahaha, if i use this mod, does the ai can build massive defense such patriot, gattling, or gla defense,
1. if i play against ai as Usa I will make many patriot battery, so ai must try
harder to defeat me, or can ai makes many patriot, like 15-20 patriot
battery/gattling/gla defense in single line or double or more????......as you
said that basically ai use stupid tactics....
2. does it rebuild everybuilding after it destroyed??? like command centre
etc????
3. does it massive attack in large number???

Well its pretty much weird AI. Just tried a USAvsGLA with 5000$. AI stopped its development at barracks lol. With old ai the 5000$ was some kind of challenge, but this one isnt at all. With 20000$ it was pretty much the same except terrorist attacks and more infantry in general, in the middle of the match ive decided to attack, my units went outside my base and instantly got attacked by entire enemy's army, that moment was really interesting and i had to put more efforts than usual. I guess it would be prejudiced to say that this is more like just changed ai than improved, because i havent tried all factions yet. Anyway you have done a good job, i tried many times to improve it myself, but it didnt work as i expected. The biggest flaw of the AI is AI stops attacking hard after like 15 mins and be more like passive, it just sends couple tanks and thats all.
