What's the benefit of this gyro on usual helicopter?
While it might compare better to a plane, I'll have a go at it:
It's REALLY cheap, small and while it requires a bit of take-off distance, it's still far less than a plane and seems to be very stable for the most part.
However, it doesn't hover; The rotor is unpowered and functions via autorotation.
Essentially, I'm guessing it'd be something of a poor man's A-10. Though, not as inefficient as that would imply.
Its exceptionally COIN design though. Cheap an efficient against insurgents.
It looks like a retarded roflcopter on drugs.
I already consider this as an advantage, seriously.
