Hey I just wanted to know how to mod L4D, textures and stuff, what programs to use. I use to mod the GTA series, but I'm not sure how to mod this game so if you can help Id be thankful, and if you need more people to help with your mods I could help when I learn how.

Try starting simpler with basic HL2 to get the hang of Source and Hammer in general. Then try moving on up to actually messing with the entities, scripting and/or the materials and models.

if you're serious about a bunch of us not buying the game, I think I would like some more information. I didn't know about some of this.

* Significant content for L4D1 was promised, and never delivered
Where was this promised? Are there links to where Valve said that there was going to be significant new content or something? Have they said that they aren't going to provide that promised content now that L4D2 is coming out? Anyone have links?

* Valve put little faith in L4D1 since they almost certainly started working on L4D2 right after release
Wouldn't this show that Valve put a lot of faith in how good the game was to start working on the sequel before they had a complete picture about sales figures? Does anyone know when production on L4D1 finished and when it started on L4D2?

* The fact that L4D2 is nearly identical to L4D1 will decimate the community for both games
I think that the L4D1 community may shrink. And shrinking is different that decimating. The Counter Strike community has shrunk, but there are still plenty of servers where you can go have a great game.

* The announced date is not nearly enough time to polish content or make significant gameplay changes
I assume that valve is a better judge of that then anyone who doesn't work at Valve.

* L4D2's release will result in a drop in quality and frequency for L4D1 content, even compared to before
Again, no one really knows if this is true.

* The community has lost faith in Valve's former reputation for commitment to their games post-release
That seems to be jumping to conclusions about a future none of us can know. I got the survival pack for free. I didn't really expect more content when I bought the game and I thought that was pretty cool.

1. Yes, their are videos from the valve team saying about new content that was never promised. All this footage was used in the Boycott videos. Maybe look on the boycott group page...

2. Its just common sense that if you put faith in something you don't just bin it as soon as possible to "improve" it.

3. Any idiot can look at L4D 2 and apart from the map setting and stupid *** characters it looks identical to L4D1. I mean they dont even have new tank skits FFS.

4. Its not enough time, you look at ALL other companies, valve themselves as well in their previous releases you can see the time and effort that goes into making something new, its allot longer than L4D2 is taking.

5. When they have an almost identical game, running of an almost identical engine why the hell would they make content for the original? That again is just common sense.

6. Talking about the future? What... It says that people "HAVE" lost faith, which the have because of this poor excuse of a complete new game. And yes the survival pack was free, if you had to pay it would be a different story because the amount of bugs and insane problems it looks to me like it was made in a day with no testing done whatsoever. And of course you wouldn't expect content if you didn't know some was promised. *******.
