At the 2016 CIO Network Conference in California, the director of Stanford University's Virtual Human Interaction Lab, Jeremy Bailenson, spoke cryptically about Apple's latest appearances at the facility.
"Apple hasn't come to my lab in thirteen years, except they've come three times in the last three months," said Bailenson to attendees. "They come and they don't say a word, but there's a data point for you."
Standford's VR Lab features a number of VR experiences, some of which are designed to teach empathy and sustainability practices. The lab was visited by Mark Zuckerberg shortly before Facebook's acquisition of Oculus.
Apples presence at the VR lab adds to the company's secretive VR endeavours, including the recent acquisition of Flyby Media, the hiring of VR Researcher Doug Dowman, as well as the granting of patents for a GearVR-like headset compatible with existing Apple hardware.
