Description

Just extract to Doom 3 base folder. Works only with retail doom 3 and steam doom 3, I don't know how to make it work with BFG Doom nor RoE.

Hey,

Inside the glprogs are the folders, if I remember well the one called simply "pom" is the one with the files you need. Copy then and paste then outside that folder and into glprogs.

Also, in doomconfig.cfg, if you changed resolution or detail, copy these settings in the end of the file:
seta image_usePrecompressedTextures "0"
seta image_useNormalCompression "0"
seta image_useAllFormats "1"
seta image_useCompression "0"
seta image_preload "1"
seta image_roundDown "0"
seta image_forceDownSize "0"
seta image_downSize "0"

If you need the folder again here is dl link to PoM: Doom3world.org

Then just get vpf files and place them inside glprogs in sikkmod folder...

If all fail, I think Win8 OpenGl driver is a different version than all other previous Windows Versions... The code was written for up to Directx 9.0b and it's equivalent OpenGl version for Doom idtech engine... It MIGHT work, if using compatibility mode, or an older operational system "emulator" to "emulate" Win XP...

Reply Good karma+2 votes
norton2 Author
norton2 - - 320 comments

Also if you aren't going to use the PoM then don't use the settings in doomconfig.cfg and leave it empty according to your specs, altough that can run Doom 3 fine on Ultra settings anyway, sometimes resolution can suck up some Frames per second...

It should look more or less like this: I272.photobucket.com

But remember that it's just a texture effect.

Sebo_hasee I don't know if Win 8 can handle old DirectX versions ! Doom 3 might run fine, but what about the PoM shaders ? They are probably "outdated" for Windows 8 and will not activate properly... Unless somebody released Win 8 Parallax mapping for this mod, and properly coded those vpf files... They won't really run in Win 8 I think... Not like how they are now atleast. I just assembled them, and I really have no experience in coding, I hope somebody else can help... If they're willing.

Also, you could try different shader versions, what if the ones that aren't PoM might work, I'll try to find something similar in the internet and post a link here that at least works like parallax mapping for win8 and doom3.

Also if you need:

To set a custom resolution:

Find these lines:

seta r_customHeight "xxxx"
seta r_customWidth "xxxx"

Change the x's to set your resolution. Now find this line:

seta r_mode "x"

Change the "x" to "-1".

Find this line:

seta r_aspectRatio "x"

If your screen aspect ratio is 16:9, change the "x" to "1".
If your screen aspect ratio is 16:10 or 15:9, change the "x" to "2".

OR: Mediafire.com for a 1920x1080, 16:9 aspect ratio, from the forum topic I got the tutorial to set up the mods properly (luke3000). Is link working ?

Sometimes resolution can interfere with Parallax. You can tell it works if you have better textures overall and if, in Mars City Underground, the wall textures to the left with the metal pieces are "convexing" with the wall, and there are some space between them... Also, floor tiles will show "volume"...

People,
see the readme !
It contain something that could help you out if you want to pimp your game more... The configurations are those by Sikken in his "mycurrentsettings" and some stuff are turned off by default...
If you got the hardware to enjoy it, simply turn it on in-game !

Inside "sikkmod" folder is "DoomConfig.cfg", delete that.

Download these:
.NET Framework 4.5 (any Win version): Filehippo.com

and this (if you're using WinXP/Vista):
Directx-11.en.lo4d.com

Run game again and tell me if still wrong version...

Hi there, downloaded and got everything working with the latest Steam version of Doom 3 - however I get a really weird graphical glitching all over the screen, its an expanded transparent view of all the textures I'm looking at duplicated and sort of pasted all over the screen right in front of my eyes. Initially I thought it was meant to be a reflective effect of say a helmet, but its a glitch. Can't find any settings that change it. I'm on an Nvidia GTX660m so its nowt to do with ATI catalyst etc.

Any thoughts? Its the only thing preventing me from playing with the mod as its just making my eyes bleed.

The culprit is antialiasing, not only one but two at the same time:

1-Turn it off on nvidia control panel if your driver is forcing it
2-Turn it off in advanced Doom 3 options if you ever enabled it
3-Just delete doomconfig and readjust your settings to ultra in the mod.
4-Try turning off SSAO and SIL (SSAO tab of Sikkmod options-Restore it later if you had it turned on).
5-In one of the tabs called "Color" there's an option called "Edge AA", turn that off too.
5-Run it with absolutely no AA or just enable the Doom 3 advanced options one (not from Sikkmod).
6-If nothing works just copy and paste the "mycurrentsettings" inside "sikkmod" and paste it into a working doomconfig.cfg after running the game at least once.

I doubt this will work, but as they say, the Devil's all in the details, so maybe small work arounds will hopefully fix it. Am thinking it might be some Control panel option contrasting with an in-game antialiasing option (that's the cause).
I used 16x antialiasing from Doom 3 alone with X8 Edge AA from the color tab and it looked like I was looking through a fish eye or something. Very weird.

Also try simply changing the resolution with your monitor aspect ratio (The mod's default resolution is 1280x1024 which is a 5:4 aspect ratio and might be conflicting with your monitor's native resolution or aspect ratio, some are 16:9 and some are 16:10, if you're on a LCD monitor just mimic the desktop resolution in-game in the mod and hopefully it will fix the distortion). Here is a list of aspect ratio and resolutions:

So if your desktop has any of the resolutions simply copy this into your doomconfig.cfg accordingly:

"To set a custom resolution:

Find these lines:

seta r_customHeight "xxxx"
seta r_customWidth "xxxx"

Change the x's to set your resolution (Use the list above to know what aspect ratio your monitor has and to set the resoution like that if you need to). Now find this line:

seta r_mode "x"

Change the "x" to "-1".

Find this line:

seta r_aspectRatio "x"

If your screen aspect ratio is 16:9, change the "x" to "1".
If your screen aspect ratio is 16:10 or 15:9, change the "x" to "2"." (lukeman3000 tutorial).

Try with both seta r_aspectRatio "1" and seta r_aspectRatio "2" to see if you can eliminate those damn distortions. In fact you probably won't even need to fuss around with AntiAliasing if you try it.

If you have an ATI card, you need to disable forcing Anti aliasing and anisotropic and turning off Catalyst A.I. seens to work for some people, altough I don't have a way to test it because I got a GeForce. Also turn off in-game anti-aliasing to see if it will work.

Simply go to Doomconfig.cfg and find "seta r_aspectRatio "x" and change it to either a "1" value (16:9) or "2" (16:10, 15:9 aspect ratio), save it, run the mod, repeat until you get no more distortions.

Thanks mate, you just need to assemble SIkkmod with the texture packs you want to make it work, it's pretty easy, I just uploaded it here for anyone who just want to start using them right away since I heard about merging both and just followed some tutorials, and that work for any texture pack.

* DISTORTED IMAGE FIX *

The distortion is a simple issue with HDR, here, look:

With HDR turned OFF:
Imageshack.us

HDR On:
Imageshack.us

The texture logo is distorted so if you have this problem turn off HDR in the Sikkmod options menu (all HDR options distort the image slightly, but if it's too annoying turn it off).

I see there are lots of options to tweak the graphic settings...

The problem is: there are no automatic quick settings and that is very bad. There are too many, and i mean WAY TOO MANY customizable effects for a casual gamer, those are out of context.

You are probably very smart and understand everything you wrote for this mod norton2, but you should have made it more simple. Why could not you made the customizations similar to Stalker, Fear or Crysis? Why did you have to toss in TONS of settings, those most casual gamers do not understand?

Thanks man, since I didn't create Sikkmod, all I could do was assemble a package with the work of Sikkmod, Wulfen texture pack and TrentReznor's custom sound in it, it's just the same as applying the texture pack in a single package by individually downloading Wulfen pack, extracting that into a folder with Sikkmod inside, the only difference is, it will be a texture pack with Sikkmod.

The number of options was added by Sikkmod's creator and I haven't messed around with it to remove stuff like DoF, film grain, etc. If you want you can cast them aside, simply copy whatever is inside a file called "mycurrentsettings" inside this package folder and write over "Doomconfig.cfg" (Just don't forget to rewrite the options for ultra settings so that the texture pack will be visible with these:

seta image_usePrecompressedTextures "0"
seta image_useNormalCompression "0"
seta image_useAllFormats "1"
seta image_useCompression "0"
seta image_preload "1"
seta image_roundDown "0"
seta image_forceDownSize "0"
seta image_downSize "0"

so that, by default, everything but HDR and Bloom will be turned off. I haven't really thought of adding or removing options because that would be reverse engineering, and I don't want a law suit/ban in my account for adding or removing stuff from a work that is not mine at all, so I take the role of "Uploader", this is free content that people have free aceess to and could do it themselves, should they desire.

So, I haven't had the chance to edit and get away with those things, but this should be easy enough so that anyone that want to create their own texture, sound or whatever, while using Sikkmod could do so, just as that dude that wanted to add a Hi-res pipe pack with this addon, can do so by simply extracting that content into the mod's folder, and create their own mod, the only limitation is really the System's settings, and that varies with everything you add or take.

Even though what I had in mind it's just meant to be playing with the Single player campaign, I have no idea if this would work with custom maps too. (In regards to all the options).

Reply Good karma+1 vote

And still I had nothing to do with the creation of Sikkmod, all I thought is it would be fun to make a working package with sikkmod and nice textures from Wulfen together, all those options are from Sikkpin already, and I just merged two mods to create a pack.

Reply Good karma+1 vote
norton2 Author

To make this add-on work with other texture packs, just extract anything into the add-on folder and accept to overwrite. This should be useful for new release texture packs or simply to overwrite old content when a new patch comes out. Yes, this should work with:

*Custom maps
*Vanilla D3 Campaign

Will not work with:
*Other mods (because they use separate folders, unless you merge a mod with this pack, but it could be really unstable I think).

If your screen is all distorted:
*Simply copy a txt file called "mycurrentsettings" inside the mod folder and paste it into "Config.cfg" (NOT DOOMCONFIG.CFG!), check ultra settings when playing, and to launch it simply go to Doom 3 then mods and Sikkmod 1.2, or just turn off all the options (A word to the wise: Do not mess with the values or you could mess up stuff like Depth of Field or making antialiasing (from Sikkmod) really laggy).

To the original authors (Sikkpin or Wulfen Texture pack owner):
*If you want please post something here and I'll rapidly remove this thing if it bothers you somehow.

Thanks.

I am having a problem similar to the link Squivo posted (a screenshot) except everything is tall and skinny.

I have windows 8, ASUS DirectCU2 Radeon HD 7870 card and the rest of my specs should run this no problem.

I have set the DoomConfig settings as instructed, my aspect ratio for 16:9 is set to 1, I have tried turning off Catalyst AI, I cannot change the Doom3.exe name as some said works. I have not messed with Sikkmod settings except turning HDR off.

I really do not know what else to do, it seems that nothing works and im getting frustrated. Also if it helps, I have this game through steam. Any ideas that havent already been mentioned?

Hello there friend, thanks for using the addon, but let's try to solve that:

1-If you are on an ATI, try turning off AntiAliasing or Anisotropic from the CCC if it's on.
2-Install a DirectX compatible with that video card (I tested it on a DX 10 card which is older and that engine is DX 9.0b).
3-The renaming of the exe file is when the engine halts, but that's a .NET framework issue, so try downloading it here: Filehippo.com

What I believe (given it happens with newer ATI cards) is a lack of compatibility provided by the engine, a different DirectX version, or all of these together. Sincerely there's not much that can be done other than downgrading your hardware or using a different video card, either way the chances of this working varies each time a new card is released up to the point the game engine simply stays stagnated and out of date with time with no new addition, no new code, and since you use a Steam D3 version like me, the lack of updates to the Vanilla Doom 3 is a sad state of affairs, indeed.

All I can hope for you is to try downloading a different Direct X version, maybe .NET framework and hope it works. Good luck and sorry if this doesn't work as it should.

Also try simply deleting DoomConfig or forcing a refresh rate in CCC or Doom 3, or just turn on Vsync to see if it leaves you alone.

Or if worse comes to worse: Playing it at 1024x768 ! Seriously, it could as well be just a refresh rate issue that's flickering the screen like that. Wouldn't hurt to try, right ?

Hi everyone i had trouble with this mod with weird distortions and close up zoomed in environments and character glitches.
To stop this distortion from happening here are a few simple ways to play the game properly.

1. Set the resolution the same as your lcd, this is in doomconfig. open with notepad ++, r_customHeight "720"
seta r_customWidth "1280"

2. Turn off Hdr and bloom, also ssao, sil and edge aa.

3. You are not done yet, there will be weird glitches behind and outside windows that show the rooms floating up and down.
Simply use just dooms advanced settings and mess around with anti antialiasing shadow effects by turning them off until that floating inside the windows stop.

Overall this mod is beautiful and sharp. I use msi r9 radeon 285.

Good look
