Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - First Person Mod addon

Just replace it with the one in your game's program folder. As always, make sure to back up the original. Let me know if you have issues with the file. Apparently Mega has been auto-password protecting my previous files. Apologies for that.

I want to start off by stating that I respect the opinion of anyone who is simply not interested in this. I've come to learn that a lot of folks really don't want first person in their SC games, especially after how Blacklist included those FPS sections. This is not an attempt to turn SC into an FPS, but to give it a new spin and provide a first person stealth feel akin to Deus Ex or NOLF 2. Stealth games are my favorite and that spark goes back to my first playthrough of Chaos Theory years ago. I've since fallen in love with first person stealth from the original Thief games to 2015's Neon Struct, but I don't know if any of that would have happened without stumbling across Chaos Theory. So for anyone who may have similar tastes, SCCT in first person is a real treat. Let me know if you have any questions.

UPDATE 3/14/2016 - This update includes the previous changes in addition to applying first person to throwing objects, grenades, etc... It could still use a bit of tweaking, but I may not have a chance.

UPDATE 2/25/2016 - If you are in the middle of a playthrough and don't want to start from the beginning after updating to the latest file (or making your own modifications):

1. simply start a new game
2. go to the menu
3. press load game
4. click on "missions"
5. Select whichever mission you'd like

You should be able to load any mission you've unlocked, including the most recent mission. This will start you at the beginning of the mission, but it's much better than beginning a new game. Any changes you've made to the .ini file will now be reflected in game. Remember to back up your file beforehand if you need to revert.

The latest update is as of 2/19/2016. This includes a fix for weapon height while standing, which reduces the presence of the character model, in addition to looking better. It also includes the mouse fix below. This is currently the recommended file to use. Remember if you make any changes, you need to start a new game for it to take effect. If anyone knows a way around this, let me know.

This mod changes the "over-the-shoulder" aiming view to make the game partially playable in first person by editing the necessary values found in the SplinterCell3Settings.ini located in this folder or your equivalent:

C:\Program Files (86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Splintercell Chaos Theory\System

This has not been re-worked for multiplayer and I have no idea if there's an effect at all. I cannot be held responsible for any issues. Proceed at your own risk.

To get working, my understanding is you must create a new profile after making the changes to the ini. In other words, I don't think this will work on existing saves and if you want to to make changes somewhere down the road, you'll need to start a new game. This isn't entirely clear to me, there may be a way to make it work somehow. But essentially my advice is make sure you have things set up and working how you want them from the very beginning before embarking on a playthrough.

To install, just replace your SplinterCell3Settings.ini with this one that has default mouse settings (X & Y axis are different values):

Again, please use at your own risk. I have not had any issues, but I will not be held responsible for any adverse effects. If you're feeling adventurous, there are many many values in this file that can be tweaked. Remember to create a new profile and start a new game for any tweaks to take effect.

EDIT: I found the values for the discrepancy between the different mouse sensitivity for the X & Y axis. To fix this, grab the second file above or do the following:

1. Go to the same ini file
2. Search for [Echelon.EPlayerCam]
3. Find this value: m_pitchSpeed=25000.0
4. Change it to 40000.0 to match m_yawSpeed or whatever you prefer
