Standalone Sound FX redesign for perfected Doom 3. The mods assets were of somewhat better quality than vanilla Doom's, still most sounds weren't normalized and noticeably distorted. This add-on fixes that.
It's incomplete. BFG, Chainsaw, Rocketlauncher, impacts, explosions, ambient ... many more on the to do list.
Thing is id had so many redundant files, that they had to compress everything beyond merit (check pak003.pk4, and see how many files are there compare to how many of them are actually used, and I'm sure you already know what I mean by low quality). I want to fix that. The current work, however, is nowhere near the quality nor the quantity for it to be hardlinked to your mod, as I'll be making frequent updates.
I did notice that grenades have no explosion sound, besides the loud clang of the shrapnel hitting everything. Otherwise it's very good work. I look forward to what's next.
That's just a blank .wav somewhere. Extract pak010.pk4 with winzip, and delete \pak010.pk4\sound\weapons\grenades\gren_blow.wav and it should be back to normal
This is a great mod. The new sounds effects are great all around, though I did find the Armour pick up sound to be a little weak compared to the vanilla version. Thanks for this. :)
I noticed the archive is a bit smaller than the "NextGen Sound FX pack: Weapons/Pickups" that was released 3 days earlier. Do I need to install both or are they essentially the same?

Not gonna lie, they all sound annoying, in contrast to the originals. Except the machinegun, that one sounded cool.
