Description

Now includes Project Brutality version. Here you have an updated version of my HXRTC HUD, dedicated exclusively for working with Brutal Doom v20. Enjoy a new and more fresh experience through your doomish adventures with this cool HUD! It works mainly with most recent releases of GZDoom & ZDoom. (NOT tested on Zandronum, and probably it won't support required new features). See the description below for more instructions and details!

This is the error I'm getting.
I use ZDL to run GZDOOM as well as the right packs, but apparently your pack has a sign missing.

Script error, "HXRTCHUD-BD20_V3.0.pk3:sbarinfo.txt" line 38:
Expected ';' but got ',' instead.

any help?

Rip and Tear that pk3 open with 7zip and change the symbol in the mentioned line would be my suggestion :D

That's a horrible idea. If you're going to edit .PK3s or .WAD files, use SLADE. It's easy, straightforward, and a hell of a lot less likely to break the file.

Good to know, looks like a nice all-in-one-editor! (i didn't actually test my proposal, but shouldn't it work in this case, since "*.pk3" is only a renamed zip file?)

I'm not able to reproduce the problem, in my case it loads successfully everytime. Which GZDoom version are you using? Dragging and dropping the files into GZDoom.exe also gives a script error?

I got the same error, using GZdoom 1.8.2

Try with GZDoom 1.8.10 (or even better, a most recent dev build).

I came immediately. Though I'm unsure. What does 'Air Time' mean? I mean, this isn't Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Also, the hud just doesn't appear for me. for some reason. I could only tell by the images. Seems I prematurely came.

In this case, 'AirTime' refers to the player's remaining air supply (in seconds) when underwater. Once the bar arrives to zero and if you're still diving, you'll lose HP because of drowning.

Did you set in (G)ZDoom's Display Options a screensize of 11 and turn off the alternative HUD?

It's a great HUD, but I'm still waiting for a cool detailed one that looks as if it's a visor as well. Probably won't download. But nice job :)

I'm getting an issue with this:
Script error, "HXRTCHUD-BD20_V3.0.PK3:sbarinfo.txt" line 17:
Expected identifier but got string constant "powerinvunerable" instead.

I'm running Zandronum as my source port.

I'm really sorry, but Zandronum is not officially supported by the HUD. Please try with a recent version of GZDoom or ZDoom instead. (You'll get more info upper in the description).

Same error as "FluffyDurrgun" got "slade" software to try to fix, as recommended by "Devianteist" but I don't see the error mentioned (note that I know nothing about script writing)

GZDoom 1.8.2 is a quite old version, you should update to 1.8.10 or if your PC supports OpenGL 3.0, should try with a most recent dev release.

Thank you much, it works after having installed 2.1

A question though, how can I customize it?

I would do without: time, doomguy's head, health icon, armor icon, weapon icon and even perhaps, the word keys and arms being written. I don't recall being able to go underwater in doom, so I would also remove airtime completely.

SLADE tool is the easiest way to do that:

I tried it and to my surprise, I was actually able to modify it!

I'm almost there, here is what I was able to do:

I1167.photobucket.com

I know the placement of these things are the numbers that come after the word "horizontal" for example:

drawbar "HXHABROK", "HXHABRNO", health, horizontal, 46, -27;
drawbar "HXHABROK", "HXHABRNO", armor, horizontal, 46, -20;

It's just that I have no idea what values to change them to, I don't know where -27 is on the screen for example

so what needs to be fixed is:

-change the placement of the values of "HXPT+KIS" up
-change the placement of the images "HXARMS" and "HXKEYS" right
-change the placement of both the image and values of "HXHPAP" down
-remove the weapon images (I guess it's in "SBARINFO.TXT" but I don't know how)

OK, as you will know, and for having a clear method, those values are the position coordenates in the X/Y axis. First value is for X, and second is for Y.

Depending you give positive or negative value to numbers, you'll get different results:

- Positive X value: distance in pixels from the left border of the screen.
- Negative X value: distance in pixels from the right border of the screen.
- Positive Y value: distance in pixels from the top of the screen.
- Negative Y value: distance in pixels from the bottom of the screen.

Anyway, it can take several tries until you get optimal results, it's mostly a matter of trial-and-error. Taking a screenshot in real-size of the game is a valuable aid for orientation. Just keep trying and for sure you will obtain what you desire.

Hope this will be helpful for you. Good luck! ;)

I did it!

Thanks for making this mod in the first place and to on top of that, help me modify it, you're awesome.

Though everything works, I have a small concern, to remove the weapon icons, I had to delete the folder containing the images. Originally I tried removing the script lines that loaded them, for example:

drawimage "HXPISTOL", -95, -43, center, 36, 12;

but that made a fatal error about the statusbar for some reason. Now this might be a really stupid question but having "unnecessary scripts" doesn't slow down the computer right? Or does it waste time calculating things that aren't even there?

Hey, good job! It's like a 'lite' version of the current HUD. Congratulations, hope you enjoy it... :)

Respect the icons and code, maybe a mistype could be the one was provoking the fatal error, a bad-placed colon or a semicolon perhaps... Normally (G)ZDoom points exactly the problems/errors that prevent the game launching correctly, so it's advisable to revise the code syntax carefully and fixing it with patience...

Not 100% sure, but I think if any scripts are not processable, the engine just skips them and continues normally, but only if those scripts are not too critic. So if there exist a possible slowdown, it could be hardly noticeable.

Mr. Hexereticdoom, it has been a long time since your "Brutal Doom: Enhanced Edition"!

May I ask you if you are planning to revive your "submod", along with your BTSX HUD? Honestly, I have been admiring both of your works!

Greetings JetBlackAngst! :)

Yeah, in fact I have already planned to make a new version of BDEE, but only when BDv20b gets oficially published, due to the quite plenty bugs still has the actual v20. It's preferable for me to wait until then, and releasing the new BDEE based on v20b, with hopefully will be more polished and bug-free. Just a matter of patience...

On the other hand, I'm not thinking about revive old BTSX HUD, instead I'm concentrating my efforts with the newer HXRTC HUD, much more feature-complete and easier to edit/improve.

I have tried using this mod in many different ways. I have drag and dropped it into the Newest version of gzdoom, I have used ZDL loader, both with just the normal game, and combined with Brutal Doom v20. I get the same error every time:
Script error, "decorate.txt" line 10:
Unknown game type Chex

may I get some help in fixing this. Also if anyone can help me get the Project Brutality add on working that would be great as well.
