Hardcore consumable changes for Call of Chernobyl with Arsenal Overhaul 3.1
From the readme:
Hardcore consumable changes for Call of Chernobyl with Arsenal Overhaul 3.1, by alanqsmithee
Installation: Make a backup of your items.ltx file in gamedata/configs/misc in case you want to revert the changes, then replace the file with this one. I've only tested with the above described setup, but if you have any doubts about compatibility with any other setup you could copy and paste over only the consumable entries so nothing else is touched. Won't affect item descriptions, world models or inventory icons, etc.
Changes:
* Bread and sausage is now irradiated while canned MREs are safe; none of it restores health.
* Vodka removes much less radiation than it used to, but a swig is enough to cancel out radiation from eating a piece of food without making you too hungry again.
* Healthkits all tweaked to restore health more slowly and with more pronounced differences among the three types. For instance, the orange ones won't restore a full health bar instantly any more. Healing effects from bandages also slowed down.
* Other chems reduced in power and duration (e.g., Hercules gives only a 10kg bonus and doesn't last as long)
* Other cost, weight and number of uses changes with a bit more difficulty in mind.
I'll give it a try. In iron-man, it will be cool... or not !
Nice concept. Anything that increases dificulty in a realistic way is welcomed imo.
Im a bit disapointed though, cause the name of the mod made me think of the consumables in Misery. As in adding more consumables to CoC like food, drugs and drinks.
Oh well, maybe in the future something like can be made. :)
Hope to eventually expand on the number and variety of consumables. This started because I wanted to mirror the regular food items with irradiated versions but decided to start small.
If you gave me more items to use in CoC I could be nothing more than happy. Seriously, I got 300 hours out of Stalker because of Misery. Having more items to make me feel more prepared or like the world is more real was a big part of that.
^^467 hours, alsow Misery and a very tiny portion of Arsenal Overhaul. :P
Really good to know that your planing in expanding the consumable items Alan. Thats one of the top keys in Misery gameplay and realism. Love to see something like that in CoC. :)
Yes, some features from MISERY would be cool. Honestly, i don't really enjoy MISERY as it is right now (for several reasons), but some nice things like eating mutant parts, coal and stoves to cook those parts (and reduce the risk of radiation poisoning) would be great !
Vodka instead of other drink after eating. COOL !
why would all bread and sausage be irradiated?
Fallout logic? I figured if it's exposed to open air as the world models suggest, it's gonna soak up some rads.

No this is not a sorcery. Most of the gas masks have drinking devices
