Adds 7 new unique types of 12 gauge rounds, replacing the 'old' and 'damaged' variants of the already existing ones. To install just drag and drop the gamedata folder into your Last Day directory. Read the description for further details:
This addon replaces most of the new shotgun rounds with unique loads, with their own damage output, icons, and prices. I tried to make the rounds as realistic as possible while still keeping some balance between them. The more rare loads only come in batches of four.
Should be save compatible.
*#00 Buckshot - replaces buckshot:
#00 buck, or double-aught buckshot is one of the most popular and widely available types of shotgun ammo. Loaded with nine 8mm pellets. Has the tightest spread
out of all the other buckshot loads.
*#4 Buckshot - replaces old buckshot:
#4 buckshot is a popular home-defense load due to its effectiveness at close range while not having as much penetration as #00 or #000 buckshot.
Loaded with twenty-one 6mm pellets. Its spread is on the large side.
*#1 Buckshot - replaces homemade buckshot:
Homemade 12 gauge shell filled with 7 mm shot. Provides a middle ground between #00 and #4 buckshot.
*Birdshot - replaces damaged buckshot:
The smallest and cheapest of shotgun loads, comes with around 72 pellets and has a huge spread. Still devastating at close range.
*Slug:
Good old slug, made slightly more accurate.
*Dragon's Breath - replaces old slug:
Dragon's breath is a special type of 12 gauge load. It consists primarily of magnesium pellets/shards, which burn at around 1,650°C when fired.
Creates a nice incendiary effect. Actually not that bad for hunting.
*Bolo - replaces old dart:
This round consists of two lead slugs connected by a steel wire that whirls and twirls during flight, once it hits its target,
the wire is meant to drag the second slug into the wound, causing devastating damage to tissue. The Bolo has less armor piercing capabilities than a regular slug.
Premium round, very expensive and hard to get a hold of, only sold by traders once you have enough influence with their faction.
*Dart:
Made slightly more accurate, and changed the description.
*Flechette - replaces damaged dart:
French for "dart" or "little arrow". This round carries 24 steel dart-shaped projectiles. Think of armor-piercing buckshot and this is what you get.
Another premium round.
*#000 Buckshot - replaces damaged slug:
Fire eight 9mm pellets of pure hate at your target, has slightly more damage per pellet and less spread than #00 buck.
UNRELATED CHANGES:
*Added 1 tracer every X rounds functionality. If you don't like tracers, go to weapons_knives.ltx, and set '4to1_tracer' to false, and 'tracer' to off in [ammo_base]
*Changed the amount of rounds per box of some cartridges, this shouldn't really affect gameplay:
9x18 -> 16
7.62x25 -> 16
.45 ACP -> 14
*Added some missing sections to the debug spawner (homemade buckshot)
KNOWN ISSUES:
*The dragon's breath may cause some stutter depending on what surface you shoot it at.
COMPATIBILITY:
*Fieldcraft Crafting Overhaul: there's a compatibility patch for the trader files (so traders sell the old barrel swap kits and the survival guide).
*STCoM Tweaks and Fixes: Install this addon after it and it will work just fine. Same with the trader suplies fix by strelocc .
*Make sure to reinstall this when a new translation comes out.
TIPS:
Aim down the sights instead of hipfiring and you'll see a much tighter spread when you shoot.

OH MY GOD. Is it Christmas already?!
I'll make sure to update to 1.2 tomorrow, along with another addon I've been cooking up. Please wait until then.
Done, updated to 1.2.
Just realized traders weren't selling birdshot. Should be fixed now.
This is amazing!!!
I can't get enough of dragons breath it is so so so amazing... I love the damage it does and the effect. Would it be at all possible to create tracer rounds as a single type of ammo and some other types of rounds for rifles?
It'd be possible, yeah. Though it'd be kind of hard to do as some calibers have up to 9 different variants. Definitely something I've thought about doing in the future, give me some time and I'll see what I can do, but I can't promise anything right now.
That would be ace mate you've done a top job on this one, I hope you do more :)
Thanks for the support. Be on the lookout for the next hours because apparently I forgot to port some stuff from 1.2 and both of my addons need new patches.
Updated, should be good to go now.
I found a major bug, special rounds chambered into the shotgun change into normal buckshot after reloading save
That's a game bug, it happens when you have more than one type of ammo on a shotgun. Once you load a save or change levels, they will all get replaced by the last type of ammo you inserted.
I'm afraid it's beyond my ability to fix that, though.
Alright I see, thanks!
Updated, but like I mentioned in my other addon, I couldn't test it, so let me know if anything's wrong.
Nice! I see you even included a compatibility patch for fieldcraft, I do have to ask though.. are the ui_icon_equipment.dds between the two of them still compatible or does that have to be reworked again?
Also, got this error

Edit: Disregard this post
(One last post, I swear lol... I really hate that you can only edit 30 minutes after a post...)
It looks like you close ammo-12x76-dart_s_bad, and ammo-12x76-dart_s_verybad twice with </string>. Also, not sure if it matters but ammo12x70_making has a space between the end of the description and </text>. After these changes I got it to load up!

Hey buddy im experiancing a crash with the Eng file. Im also using the tracer addon as well could this be affecting this mod?
Updated, let me know if that fixed it.
Yes, the ui_icon_equipment.dds is compatible with fieldcraft, and as far as I know, fieldcraft doesn't replace any icons, just adds new ones, so I see no point in creating two different ones.
"TIPS:
Aim down the sights instead of hipfiring and you'll see a much tighter spread when you shoot."
LOL so realistic, you can't tighten the spread while aiming down sights unless you put a shotgun choke on the barrel.
Just the way it works in game, the cone of fire is decreased by aiming and crouching, regardless of weapon.
Chokes would be nice, but I'm not exactly sure how I'd go about adding them to the game.
Yeah, there was a typo in there, I've updated it now.
Flechettes and bolos are intentionally pretty rare, and the reason you aren't finding double slugs is because they got replaced by #000 buck lol.
Oh, well... that would make sense then lol. Chances are I probably just haven't found the flechettes then. I'll give it another try and see if 000 buck is fixed now and edit back if it's good or not.
I did just add above too the fact that 00 buck and 000 buck both use the same images, not sure if that's intended or not.
Edit: 000 looks good, and actually... on closer inspection, it does seem that 000 and 00 images DO have a very, very subtle difference... the 000 is just ever so slightly darker in color, just really hard to tell
Given that flechettes are in working order, I think everything might be fixed now.
Alright, cool.
I'm going to delete some of the spaghetti in the comments now that that's out of the way.
Small update to properly align and tweak some of the icons and remove the blank space in the #000 buck description.
Found a conflict that you may or may not know about. This addon when used with 'traders buy broken stuff' addon has an issue where the game doesn't load,(if broken guns is installed after) or it works but no traders sell the special shotgun rounds anymore, or alternatively the broken guns no longer are sellable.
Changing the buy conditions for traders is pretty easy, you can go to the files in /misc/trade and change the value of buy_item_condition_factor (it's somewhere at the top of the file) to something like 0.3 (30%).
Oh I see, It's not such a big deal anyway (for me) This addon is good enough that I don't mind a little thing like that!
Will you be updating this for the new patch? I haven't tried it with it but someone said item addons will not work with 1.3+
I haven't tried the new patch yet, but in case it requires an update I'll release one.
Updated to the latest patch.
Hey, I've read about the compatibility thing, but I'm still confused. You said to install this mod after STCoM fixing files or vice versa?
Never mind, I already figured it out a few days ago.
Great mod!
I want to say you did a great job on defining these various shotshells. I think it adds to the stats listed in the respective ammunition. Helps one infer what threat/use the shells would be good for.
And thats very important for a Misery mod; immersion.
I was very impressed with the effects from the Dragons breath. One of my faction members was firing it and I got a perfect side-view of the effects!
I can't confirm right now but i think the DB shot was actually used in Vietnam.
work in 1.3+?
Should be working.
Check out this addon as well, it comes with more up to date trader files:
