Description

This can be installed on C&C95; v1.06c to add Spanish-subtitled videos to the game. It is missing all videos without speech, so it should not be used as main video pack. Unless you're using a full hard disk install including videos, like "The First Decade" or "The Ultimate Collection", you should install a videos base pack before adding this. Subtitled videos created by wolfstain.

Hello. First of all thank you for your work.
I have tried installing the no cd full version I downloaded from this site.
I also installed the patch 1.06c, then the the base videos in English, then this addon in Spanish. Also the Spanish translation of the game was installed. I activated the addon in the setup menu of the patch. However, I still can't see the subtitles of the videos.
Did I do something wrong?

Hm, that's strange. You did that exactly as intended. In the CCConfig tool, in the "Game options" tab, under "No-CD mode", is the option "subfolder of the game named like the language code" selected? Language packs need that option.

I'm having the exact same problem that was described by the guest before. I'll give more background first.

1) Installed C&C from the Origin desktop app.
2) Run the patch 1.06c
3) Installed the base videos in English
4) Installed the Spanish Add-on (and I see text in Spanish and also hear units and EVA in Spanish)
5) Installed the Spanish-Subtitled video pack.

NOTE: on step 5, during installation, I got a message telling: "Loose VQA files were found in the game folder. These files will prevent videos in the addon pack from working correctly. Install a basic videos pack to solve this problem. Do you want to install anyway?"

Given that message I tried 2 things but with the same result (no video subtitles):

A) I tried just installing anyway

B) I re-installed everything from scratch and after step 3 I moved all VQA files into the "eng" folder. In that case I didn't get the error message on the Step 5, but I still don't see the videos with Spanish subtitles.

Also, I notice that the "spa" folder has many more vqa files than the "eng" folder....

I just tried something else that is giving me a clue of the problem.

In the Root folder of the game, there is file: movies.mix

I opened with the XCC MIX Editor and I noticed that inside it had all (and more) of the movies that are inside the "spa" folder, but those VQA files inside the movies.mix are without the Spanish subtitles.

As a test, I just changed one of the files (gd1.vqa) and then started a new campaign with GDI team and the video showed the subtitles in Spanish!

So, it seems that this Addon Pack is not making the replacement of the files correctly into the "movies.mix" file and/or there should be another way for the system to let it know to use the movie files from the "spa" folder (btw, changing the settings in the CCOnfig tool to "subfolder of the game named like the language code" didn't seem to work)

That's strange. I followed your steps, and it turned out that the problem was indeed that that setting did not get activated by the language pack installer. I activated it, and that solved the problem. Could you open "conquer.ini" and check under the [CDControl] section if the "LangPath" option is set to "yes"?

Anyway, yea, I'm updating the installers. All of them seem to write the "use language code folder as CD" setting incorrectly (putting the option, named "LangPath", under [Language] instead of [CDControl]).

The base videos pack is not needed on The First Decade or The Ultimate Collection (except if you have the German version, which dumps all its videos in the game folder and has no movies.mix). I'm changing the warning so it only appears if it would really affect files in the pack.

The movies.mix should not be modified, no. The videos in the "spa" folders should override the ones inside movies.mix when the game uses that "spa" folder as CD. Basically, the CD acts just like the game folder, and as the warning at the start said, bare VQA files in there override the files inside movies.mix. That's how the video language switching system works.

Updated :)
